Wow! That looks beautiful. I was imagining the type of rug my mum used to make with a hook and lengths of wool. The patterns were printed on the mesh but they were nothing like the elegant design of your creation. You are right to be proud.

sablonneuse: that's how it was exactly. My fingers used to get sore and the pattern was very intricate but I fell for the design.

Wow! That's blooming professional-looking, that is. How do you do it? I kind of fancy having a go at that although I reckon mine would end up a bit more holey tea-clothy than ruggy. Your's is beautiful!

Sam: find a craft shop, choose a design, the backing has the design stamped on it, you buy the various colours of wool which are all cut to the length required and buy a hook. I found it absorbing and therapeutic and it will last forever. I did, however, trim it slightly at the end where perhaps a tuft was a little higher than the rest. I would start on something smaller first and see how you like it. You might get the girls doing little bits.

That is an amazing rug I bought a small runner for my hall (hand made) a few years back and it cost a fortune so think what you could be standing on!!!
