Striding Edge is possibly my favourite place in England.

Oh, really good pictures.

US: I'll bet it didn't frighten you!

Hoss: don't want to boast but the Bowder Stone dates from the last Ice age and weighs over 2000 tons.
Don't know what that is in new money but it's one large rock. Now tell me you have a bigger one! xoxox

z; considering their age and their treatment over the years they aren't bad.

I've been to Striding Edge. Loved the quiet.

Hi Judy: the Bowder Stone is in the beautiful valley of Borrowdale. There is a ladder at one side of it which enables you to explore it more closely and take in the view from the top.
See note above to Hoss.

4d: just as well you weren't there with us rowdy lot.

Cracking picture of the Bowder Stone, especially with the chickens. I'd never heard of the Bowder Stone, although I had heard of chickens.

Looks like a nice spot.

Great photos all the way, Pat. I'm arm-chair travelling instead of working. sigh.

Your picture labelled 'Skelwith Bridge' is actually the footbridge over the Brathay River at Brathay church. I grew up here, I've kayaked on the rapid underneath too many times to count.
Sorry I'm a pedant
Nick

Anon: heartfelt apologies and thank you for taking the trouble to tell me. I'll check later but as I remember it, it was written in pencil on the back of a snap in either Dad or Evan's writing and sadly neither of tham are around any longer so I can't berate them. How lucky you were to be brought up in such beauty. Thanks Nick.
