Hoss: don't want to boast but the Bowder Stone dates from the last Ice age and weighs over 2000 tons. Don't know what that is in new money but it's one large rock. Now tell me you have a bigger one! xoxox
Hi Judy: the Bowder Stone is in the beautiful valley of Borrowdale. There is a ladder at one side of it which enables you to explore it more closely and take in the view from the top. See note above to Hoss.
4d: just as well you weren't there with us rowdy lot.
Your picture labelled 'Skelwith Bridge' is actually the footbridge over the Brathay River at Brathay church. I grew up here, I've kayaked on the rapid underneath too many times to count. Sorry I'm a pedant Nick
Anon: heartfelt apologies and thank you for taking the trouble to tell me. I'll check later but as I remember it, it was written in pencil on the back of a snap in either Dad or Evan's writing and sadly neither of tham are around any longer so I can't berate them. How lucky you were to be brought up in such beauty. Thanks Nick.

Grand mother but still a girl at heart. Married to MTL(my true love)after a separation of 30 years. Had three careers: trained paediatric nurse, National photographic model and business woman. Now settled in SW and enjoying our five children and ten grandchildren and making the most of what time we have left.
In January 2013 I lost MTL.

Striding Edge is possibly my favourite place in England.
And no Blarney. Rats.
Oh, really good pictures.
US: I'll bet it didn't frighten you!

z; considering their age and their treatment over the years they aren't bad.
What's the Bowder Stone? That looks interesting!
I've been to Striding Edge. Loved the quiet.

Cracking picture of the Bowder Stone, especially with the chickens. I'd never heard of the Bowder Stone, although I had heard of chickens.
Looks like a nice spot.
Great photos all the way, Pat. I'm arm-chair travelling instead of working. sigh.
GG: beats hanging around at airports.
