Following endless narrow lanes we reached this spot where we intended to climb Dunkery Beacon but as you can see from the gushing stream Exmoor was awash. After a few hundred yards of climbing up a stream - knowing it would be worse coming down we aborted the plan and set off for Luxborough with myself map- reading.
This gives an indication of where we were.
OOps! Here we are at Winsford - quite a way from Luxborough. I find Ordinance Survey maps rubbish for finding the right road - but it was a lovely drive:)

We used ordinance survey maps once to try and reach a point on the south coast called seven sisters, but we never found it! Here in the Netherlands there is a special organisation that maps and clearly marks all paths and roads in the country and it's very efficient, which means we can't find our way when abroad basically. ;)
Thanks to your lovely photos, Pat, I've developed a yen to visit England...I need yens and pounds and dollars for that though, to work, to work I go...
Wontlet: I think it was just too detailed for me . All I needed were clear thick lines which were roads. we managed to keep calm. Fairly.
GG:I hope you make it here. I have been trying to answer your comment but it keeps going haywire and I have had to shut down three times today. The joys of computing!
Oh, I know the Seven Sisters! I go there quite often in summer.
Lovely pics Pat - making me desperate for a holiday.
Sx
Scarlet: it rings a bell - I'll have to google.
Thanks Scarlet.
Women map-readers! *ducks*!
There are some really pretty places on Exmoor :) Your eventual journeys end looks cosy and inviting though so it seems worth the effort! I just love the little snowdrops!
Lovely pics yet again. I do admire you for taking on these walks and thank you for showing us the scenery.
John.g: look at it this way- you wouldn't have seen these photos:)
Bob-kat: it was lovely to feel maybe winter is over.
Sandy: the kids inspire me but I am quite careful.
