New Year’s Day
Aside
The best laid plans of mice and men…
I got to page 283(total 292)and the printer packed up. After wasting an hour or so trying to fix it I started getting dots and dashes on my precious document which panicked me, then messages saying too many windows open and no means of closing them. I finished working on the printed stuff so there are only the remaining 9 pages to complete, and unplugged everything.
Tomorrow I hope to be round to visit everybody – to cheer myself up. Did Virginia suffer like this? No wonder she had pebbles in her pockets.

I would've headed straight for the chocolate, in fact I still mihgt, my printer's not taking paper up anymore..
Virginia also had a pansy petal in her shoe, try it, I find it really brings good luck around.
Printers were invented to piss people off. Nil desp.!
The IT guy cliché "have you tried turning it off and turning it on again?" is always the first thing to try. Hope the computer and printer behave themselves tomorrow. Maybe they're suggesting you should take a few hours off?
Jannie: I hope it brings you more luck than poor Virginia. Funny you should mention chocolate I have just had an extre 2 to my usual 4 squares:)
Kevin: it's barely a year old and only just used this last week or so. I try not to despair:)
Z: it's been on and off all day and then when I seemed to have lost my Word document I had to walk away and calm down. Page 1 had slipped down to page 8 but I managed to get it back up by pressing delete - heart in mouth. Tomorrow I'll see if the local shop can type the last few pages from my blue flashing USB and also see if they can copy it all on to CD. I have bits done but this would be the complete version.
Exciting that its close to a proof copy!!
As a tip, when I'm on the road working, as well a saving documents, I sometimes send documents to myself on email.
Sounds odd, but means its backed up to the email provider server too.
Rashbre: I must try that. would it take a document of 293 pages I wonder?. I hope to get it burnt to CD tomorrow.
