Creative Juices

Aside

They runneth a bit dry today but I’ll sit and blether anyway shall I? It’s that pesky January I guess. It’s three years since I started this – I can’t tell you the exact date because part of my archive – from January 2006 to December 2006 has gone walk –about, although it is still on my lists of posts on Dashboard. I wonder if I republished them if they would go to the right place i.e. the beginning? I’m nervous of trying.

My bed-time reading just now is ’The Paris Review suggested by Eryl (sidebar). It covers Heartbreak, Sex , Love, Betrayal, Madness, Outsiders, Intoxication, War , Whimsy, Horrors, God , Death, Dinner, Baseball, Travels, the Art of Writing and Everything else in the World Since 1953 so you can see why. The following is an example of when a group of distinguished poets were given eight titles to write any form of verse in the Whimsy section. Some of you may appreciate it:-

The English are so very nice

except of course when they are not.

They’ll ply you with a lovely pot

of tea and scones, but then in a trice

kebab you with their rapier wit

and treat you like a piece of shit.

One minute it’s paradise

Of tweedy charm, the next a wet

and caste-benighted oubliette.

But the English are so very nice.

BEN DOWNING

In spite of its literary connotations I know I am the only one of you who watches ‘Big Brother’. I had to – to see who Ulrika would run off with. It’s not happened yet – nor likely to – no love lost there. I was sorry to see La Toyah go last night – such a contrast to noisy Tina who could sit – cross-legged and rubbish her fellow guests in bleepable language whilst biting her nails ( toe nails) at the same time.

Thank goodness for dear Ben (Fogle) who is braving the Peruvian Jungle this week. His mother was the sweet actress Julie Foster who was in the West End with Tommy Steele. She had to dye her blonde hair because Tommy was the blonde. She married a vet so you can see where Ben is coming from. I think I could face the lower slopes of Everest with Ben beside me.

Blimey, I could even face watching three hours of celeb Big Brother if Ben Fogle was sitting beside me....

Pat, I don't see why you couldn't re-publish the first blog posts, as long as the dates of publication are not changed - or maybe you should experiment with changing the dates to today and then hitting publish. If it messes up, you could always delete them.

I thought Ben Fogle was in Antarctica?!

I'm going to have to check out Ben Fogle, this is the second time you've mentioned him.

Caz watches BB. There's the little bloke from the Austin Powers movies and Ulrikakakaka who was very good on Shooting Stars I recall. The rapper is a bit of a dick but I think the northern bloke - Terry? will probably win. Remember him on some'at called The Word I think many many moons ago.

That LaToya looked spookily like Michael. Have they ever been seen together?

Scarlet: he seems like a nice boy:)

Judy: I'll give it try tomorrow - when I'm feeling fresher. Thanks:)

John.G: not this week he's not - he's in the Peruvian jungle. Keep up at the back there:)
Maybe because you are up there, as opposed to being down here, it's different.

John - Ben Fogle should be on Mars! Come to think of it, so should the whole of the Big Brother cast. Pffft!

Another thought Pat...Copy and paste those posts into WORD or whatever writing thingy you use....At least you would have them that way....
LOVE that little poem...lol! Rather Wicjed, Though It Is!
I've never seen "BIG BROTHER", it sounds like a ;reality' Soap Opera...lol...But fun!
CONGRATS ON THREE YEARS OR SO, my dear Pat. You are a treasure!

Hey Patricia! Long time no visit!

Big Brother used to be a lot of fun, but it's gotten so boring. I guess I'll have to seek out the UK/Aussie versions!

Hope I can lure you over to the MEET n' GREET going this weekend on my blog! It'd be great to have you a part of the fun!

Eryl: he really grows on you - the person you'd want to be around if one were trekking or doing anything dangerous.

Manic: I'm really annoyed that Ulrika won it. I thought she was a pain and I really hoped Terry would win it. He's developed so much - I didn't like him at all in 'The Word'
Have you noticed how he looks like a very young Enoch Powell? Who did Caz want to win?
I agree about La Toyah - the likeness was spooky.

Keith: I'll give you the BB cast but as for Ben I think you're just jealous:)

Naomi: thank you for the congrats and helpful advice. I tried today to publish them from Dashboard and I could see them on a post which seems to be floating in cyber space but not yet on my blog. I have them backed up all over the place but if someone wants to read the story from the beginning the first months aren't there for them. My grand-daughter comes soon - I'll see if she can solveit.

I recorded BB final to watch around Jonathan Ross. No take-away curry or lager though. Actually, I was slightly surprised at the final winner sequence.

Eryl Shields said...

I had a look at him and he does look awfully strong and capable.

Congratulations on your three years, and keep it coming.

Tanya: Nice to have you visit and I shall certainly be over this week-end. I'm sure I'm not the only one to miss Michele and all the friends one made.

PI said...

Rashbre: I really didn't want Ulrika to win and don't understand how she managed it. I came to like Terry and hoped he would make it to the end. I missed Ross last night, but i expect he has bounced back. Bet he'll have Ulrika on very soon.

Eryl: he's not my idea of good looking but his spirit shines through.

Noooooooooo CBB in this house - I'm afraid we're more of the opinion that most of them aren't legimately celebrity.

I agree, Ben is nice - I remember him in Castaway, but I don't think we would be a good match with him being so very outdoorsy...mind you, I'd be happy to introduce him to medieval re-enactment :-)

Netchick sent me this morning, Pat.

You're not the only one who got caught into the Big Brother trap. And I was v please to see Ulrika win last night but was disgusted with the crowds boo's last night. I know it's a pantomine but even so - bad form.

I had heard that Ben Fogle hcaught leishmaniasis so didn't expect him to be on his travels so soon...

The thought of that much reality TV is sobering...(shudder)...

hello Pat...NetChick sent me...

Alas, you are right in that I do not watch Big Brother. I'm a fan of a lot of reality shows, but could never get into that one. And that poem...it's quite true, too!

PI said...

CQ: I always think of you as out doorsy with the tournaments and your walking/running for charity - you'd get on like a house on fire - but he is married:)

Sim: I didn't want Ulrika to win but booing was not cool.
Ben was desperately sick but like the hero he is he pulled through in time to race tot the Pole - or whatever he was doing - he came second AAAAh!

Linda: I hope you don't really believe the poem is true. Some of m;y best blog friends are in America.

Here from Tanya/Netchick... I like the poem, but wonder what poets in the London Review might write about the French?

I just had to laugh about your comment re. Ulrika :D

Congratulations on your 3 year (ish) blogiversary! I think I'm coming up to mine soon.

Netchick sent me to say h but I came to say tThanks also for your kind comment on my blog.

Sage: now that I'd like to read ; one of our sons now has three lovely French children, plus an enormous extended French family.

Bobkat: thanks for that. Isn't it good to be meetin' and greetin' again?

Nea said...

Ulrika won? How?

I'm not booing, but please can I hiss?

PI said...

Nea: it really is a puzzlement. Yes you may and I may join you.
