Remind me why I changed to Windows 7

It was when I had to replace my computer and was told  W 7 was the way to go and I would be left behind without it.  I have yet to find an advantage and am only too well aware of the disadvantages.  For instance when I press reply to answer an email the layout goes peculiar and recipients are puzzled. The layout of the address book is different and puzzling.  It is all so unfamiliar and I’m not good at embracing change.

Then this morning I did a post quickly so I could get on with Christmas stuff and whilst emboldening it - with  the mouse in my hand - it completely disappeared beyond recall.  Maybe I should have saved it after the title – but I never needed to do that before.  Where in tarnation has it gone to? I am not a happy bunny.

Windows 7 came on my new computer and I really haven't had any problems with it. I use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer and that might help.

I am way behind on Vista, which I originally loathed and it only took 5 years to get used to it.

Granny Annie: I appear to use both.

Scarlet: I should live so long:)

You upgraded for the same reason we all did; we thought it was the right thing to do. But as you can see, we were sold a lie. It's the same hard lesson we've all had to swallow. And now there's Windows 8.

UB: thanks honey - that's made my day.

I dunno. I do what I'm told more often than not.

I always type my posts in Word first, then copy and paste into blogger. Losing stuff I've worked hard on infuriates me.

Pearl: I shall go back to saving it as soon as I start to type. I alos do Word then copy and paste.
I wasn't thrilled with the post so couldn't face repeating it.

I work on a mac so I've never used Windows. I use Safari.

I hate it when they change stuff too, just for the sake of it.

Joey: People usually swear by Macs. I'm in awe.

I don't have an issue with Windows 7. When I compose a post I use HTML. The only gripe I have is that when I copy and paste an e-mail, all the paragraphs vanish into a single block!

I write all my blogs in Word and save by month and year. Never lost one blog. Why? Because the web sites and places online that you go no longer accept or can fully use the older windows programs. They have been adapted to 7. Change.....poor us.

It's all about GREED, Pat! Windows 7 is a rework of Vista, which was lousy, lousy, lousy! Now, there's Windows 8??? Threy will do anything and everything to make us have to BUY the Newest Versions!!! It's such a scam!

John: Yes I've noticed that too.

Mage:at first I thought I had inadvertantly scrolled it down - a bad habit of mine, but I looked high and low. Zilch!

Naomi: For better or worse I'm staying put - for the duration:)

I use quite a variety of computers but am still occasionally surprised when something strange happens and the text goes whizzing away somewhere.

If I have my wits about me I press 'undo' to see if that will help fix it.

Whatever you do, don't upgrade to windows 8. I'm only 29 years old and even I don't know how it works... What I've noticed in windows 7 is that different browsers behave totally differently: for me Google chrome no longer works well, only Firefox does, and sometimes internet explorer. Maybe try out a few different browsers and see which one works best for you?

Rashbre: on the odd occasion I reember undo it often says can't undo. Sods law.

Marjolein: Thanks for the heads up.
I seem to use all of the above - with varying success.

It's changed so that people must buy. It really is all about money.
