Are you sitting comfortably?

Then I'll begin. This is a picture of a kookaburra. I know because our grandson sent it from Australia and he has one just like it in his garden. One of the more friendly examples of wildlife down under I think.

Still not sure I'd like to find one lurking under the toilet seat, though.

David: they make a distinctive sound too - lovely background music

David, see it? If you can only HEAR it...it is the most hilarious thing.

Kevin: I think they are fairly large- you'd probably spot it. I have a horror of a rat popping up from the sewers when seated on the loo - as happened to a neighbour when we rented a villa in Spain. On the same holiday the water and electricity went off for three days.

GG: I'm sure I heard it when I was in Australia. I wonder if it's on u tube?

GG and David: yes! Laughing kookaburra. You can hear it but can't embed it.

Oh what a DARLING Bird he is! I love seeing Birds that we don't have here....Wouldn't you just love to see that one in his garden?

Very friendly, Pat - although they've a beak on them to be avoided. I've been told that they usually appear before rain. Probably explains why we've not seen many lately...
