NEWS FLASH!

Aside

If you want to hear some life-affirming stuff- and who doesn't on a grey Bank Holiday Sunday - click on Apprentice on my side bar, and hear Randy Pausch's last lecture. It is quite long, so allow yourself time and you may not make it to the end without the aid of a Kleenex, but it is full of wisdom, wit, honesty and courage and even though much of it is out of my orbit I was glued to my computer.

I am familiar with this and had seen him on Oprah some time ago. An amazing man. Very inspirational.

I've been entertaining a four year old boy all day and don't have the mental capacity for a lecture right now. But I'll definitely be back. Could use some inspiration.

Same with me Pat, I have a lot to do today but I'll check it out later.

Incidently, you commented on my last post while I was still writing! It's finshed now, but I don't think you saw Part II !

Thanks Pat. He has had huge exposure in the States, a book of the lecture has sold millions of copies.

He even got to run out with the Steelers, my adopted American football team. (My friend June is a huge fan, she sent me my own yellow towel)

It is good to air these issues though. I think us just want us to start acknowleding death, maybe then we'd all make a better fist of the time we get, however long.

I'm also struggling with limboland a bit. Joanne death and Julia's, another friend who had a diagnosis similar to mine, have hit me hard. Surviving is very arbitary and as the cohort that came through it with you thins and thins it is sometimes hard to deal with.

Off out to the sunshine now - it's too lovely a day to be blue!

Michelle: if you do you won't regret it.

Keith: I can't get that video out of my mind. I have caught up with the rest of your sorry tale. Never mind they are just stupid b------s

It's also definitely an example of how a positive attitude can make all the difference, as he's still alive! I really had to learn after my father died that it doesn't matter who of your loved ones die, it matters who is/has been a positive part of your life, for however short that may have been.

Anna: yes my American friends knew it well. I agree we should all make a better fist of the time we have left. It must be very hard when you lose friends but they wouldn't want you to be unhappy, on the contrary.
If you have sunshine enjoy it but take care; two of my friends have just got burnt. Not much chance of that here.

Marjolein: I hardly dared ask if he was still alive. It was amazing when he did the press-ups. I always believe that as long as there is someone on earth who still loves you - you are never far away.
