I'm ashamed to say I don't recognise any of them - not even the English one! But I am going to Greece next week, so I'll look out for number 7!
Keith H: lucky you! Where are you going? Greece is one of my favourite countries.
I'm horrible at these things, but they are nice photos.
Cheers.
Randall: not to worry. I'm thinking lead balloon!
I've just failed miserably at John-g's quiz and am sad to say I don't recognise any of your photos either. Never mind - we're revelling in bright sunshine here at last!
Haven't a clue but 1 Scotland, 2 France, 3 Greece, 4 France, 5 England, 6 Scotland, 7 Wales, 8 England.
Sandy: you are not alone. I felt sure you would know which was the French one.
Susie: thank you for trying. Three is corrrect, four is correct, five is correct, six is correct and eight is correct. Well done! Now you have started them off maybe someone will hone in on them:)
I'm better at history than geography. Also, I'm famously unobservant so even if I've been somewhere I don't usually recognise a picture of it. I'll ponder for a while and see if I can come up with anything. Any clues?
My guesses are...
1. - completely stumped. I would have said Germany, but you don't have that on your list
2. - Looks like Scotland to me, perhaps up towards Pitlcochry
3. - Got to be Greece
4. - Looks very French. You don't get buildings like that in the UK
5. - I would have said England, but unless it was an old haunt of Shakespeare, I wouldn't know whose house
6. - West Coast of Scotland
7. - looks rather Welsh to me
8. - My first thought was Scotland, but then I thought the bridge doesn't look right, so I'll plump for England
Kim: you are a GOOD boy!
#2
#3
#4
#5
#6
#8
Those are all correct. Well done. Clearly the places we have visited are not your run- of- the-mill.
z: you can't be good at everything:)
#1 it's a castle with a C
#2 very desirable neighbourhood.
#3 your initial
#4 c'est bon!
#5 Peter played him in the film.
#6 it is hotel- as Kim says on the west coast near a place thatt sound like what one does to dirty saauce pans.
#7 it's not the Brig o' Doon.
#8 where Alan Bennett has his bolt hole.
OK?
Cardiff Castle - or strickly speaking the mansion built in Victorian times!
I claim my kiss on the cheek :)
Kim: mmwah!
I got the greek and french ones and that #s 2 and 6 were Scotland. I guessed 7 was wales but didn't have a clue about the others.
Great game!
Got another?
Sam: I was waiting for you to pin point. You'll kick yourself at # 7 or maybe I am just showing tourist Scotland which the locals ignore. Did you read the clues I gave to Z?
I'll reveal all later today. Probably.
I can only do anything with a literary connection, so I have been pondering 8. Alan Bennett lives in Camden, but it doesn't look like London to me, so I assume it's North Yorkshire - but I don't know where!
I knew Cardiff Castle but I've seen that (relatively) sober... ;-)
Manic: sober? Doesn't sound like the boy I know.
Z: Clapham Beck where he has a bolthole.
