Today's Garden

At 6.15am this morning the sun was bright red - but didn't come out in the photograph
.
Outside the family room

Our secret path where grandchildren used to stalk tigers with Grandpa's old pistols. Freshly raked by yours truly

This glory hole awaits a visit from the young to help me clear it.

I love a magnolia sky

The pink ones to the left - the white to the right

Isn't this tree lovely even before it blooms

Beautiful - spring at last!
PS Please would you give my love to Gribbist (sp?) Hill & the Countour Path the next time you face towards the hills? Merci d'avance, Pat - + bon weekend.

I cannot photograph the sun, the moon or the stars with my crappy camera. Love your magnolia sky. The secret path reminds me of my grandparent's garden when I was a child.

The daffodils have finally started to emerge up here. Should be glorious in about a week's time :)

I see a tiger's paw, I do.

Glory hole? What a great name, haha.

I've never experienced spring, but I can see it in all it's glory here.

Oh, how I love magnolia trees! They were everywhere when I lived in Ontario near Toronto. Just gorgeous! We can't grow them here in Winnipeg - winters are much too harsh. Please take more photos when they are in full bloom, please!

Great weather!

Sigh.

I got home last night to find gray sky, cold temps, wind and a touch of snow. Query how often the UK's weather is better than ours?

Cheers.

Much is happening there now that it is really so much warmer---LOVE that path that you raked, Pat. And the Magnolias look like they cannot wait to burst open!!
Spring is really "Springing"....And with such great beauty, too!

I know that sky ... in your first photo I have seen it in Tucson and I too have a hard time trying to photographing the sun and moon. Never comes out quite like how I see it.

How lovely you have two Magnolias. On a wall in my last home, I had three Espaliered and I was so enamored of that look. The creamy big blooms and shiny dark green leaves, quite perfect.

What a wonderful post today.

cheers, parsnip

Our Magnolia is at the same stage. I thought yours might be more advanced.

Minnie: will do. We can see Grabbist from the house. I'm not sure about the contour path.

Granny Annie: and did you chase tigers? Or is it only MTL who is a bit mad?

Kim: as long as it comes, that's the thing:)

GG: that's so sad - never to have experienced spring. Please tell me you have compensations.
'Glory hole' was one of my mother's expressions which inevitably must have come from Gran. Any place that badly needs sorting.

Ponita: I promise I will. I can never resist them.

Randall: depends what part of the UK. although we aren't very big compared to USA we have enormous variations of weather. We're famous for it:)

Naomi: yes I get real pleasure out of the raking. Bagging the dross is not such fun:)

Parsnip: Heaven forfend that I should boast, but we have three magnolias - the third is the white stellata I showed last week. And three camellias:) Unfortunately because of the position of the large ones it is difficult to do them justice against the sky.

John.G: I loved your poetic comment at GG's.
I suppose being so high they get the breeze off the sea which may delay them.

I've always loved magnolias and it looks like you're going to have quite a show in a day or so.

The secret path is rather compelling, too, and so pristine.

Pat said...

Eryl : you should have seen it earlier. I have another one round the east boundary - much worse - which I might have a go at but it's a bit scary.

Spring has sprung! We should be careful... it'll probably be winter again in a fortnight...
Sx

Scarlet: no it can't be. I've packed the Damart away.

Beautiful shot of the Sun Pat, and the Secret Path loooks like something out of an Enid Blyton book! :)

Luna: I used to love reading Enid Blyton to the boys.

Our magnolias have buds. We've been having very cold weather and colder nights. I hope they survive.myoric

Compensations...no winter :-)

Fresh fruits / veggies all year long.

Clothes hanging out to dry.

But I'd love to see spring. Without winter :-)

Pat said...

GG: Those are some great compensations! Spring without winter - now that's just too much to ask.

debra: I hope so too. They are pretty tough.
