Pat,
I am so glad she is back and all is well.
I wanted to say something before but as this town is in a big tourist area and has been safe, I didn't.
I personally wouldn't let anyone I know visit Mexico right now. The area right above where she was is in a huge gang drug war.
The Mexican town just 55 miles from where I live has been on the American No Visit list since last year. 12 people were just killed in the latest round of the war for drug and illegal smuggling routes.
Everyone hates Arizona right now but we live really knowing what is going on with Mexico's choice not to take care of their people and with Mexico's expectation that Arizona will.
I am so relived and very happy she is home and safe !

my last comment didn't post... I loved that Movie ! Brassed Off. I think I will rent it again.

cheers, parsnip

Parsnip: as you say - thank goodness she is back safe and sound. I got a glimmer from Randall and Kath that caution was important and passed it on to Alice.

I think it is certain that both girls and the children benefited from the interaction and have learned a lot. Bravo to them!

I like how the town "manages to maintain the charm of a small Mexican town, rich in culture and traditional values" despite tourism.

I enjoyed this account, and was amused by how 'universal' children's behaviour is!

I wonder who taught Angel to say 'stinky'.

Whenever I read accounts of crime in other countries, I wonder how much is media hype and how much is reality.

GG: it's true they always, unerringly latch on to a phrase if they think it's naughty.
I asked Alice if there was anything frightening and - apart from a cockroach or two - there wasn't as far as they were concerned.
