The Week that was

Aside

The family leave today and we go to an all day party tomorrow so no way can I concentrate to write the next episode of the story, that will have to wait till next week. The weather has been lovely, we haven’t wasted it and the time has flown. I’m hoping they will come again in July before they leave for OZ. They certainly want to.

It’s grand-daughter’s 16th birthday in the summer and as a special treat and good-bye to her girl friends she is having a tea party at the Ritz ( even Sir Alan Sugar has got in on the act – the reward to the men’s team in last night’s programme) She bought a lovely tea party dress in Taunton (nothing ‘silly’ is to be worn, as the Ritz turn people away who are improperly dressed – even designer jeans) and she bought a prom dress here for the end of term. She looks lovely in both – well I would say that – but she really does. I offered to go to the Ritz as chaperone, but sadly was turned down. Doggy bags?

The wood photo is one my # 2 son took and I took the one of Karen – with her permission – my lady gardener - who is great and is giving my beds my longed for ‘edges’.

Sounds like you've had a lovely time with the family. The magbolia is beautiful. Life is returning, yay!

Wow, tea at the Ritz!

I don't have anything I could wear to something like that. All my suits are from when I was 7 stone heavier and there's been no need to replace them yet.

Gosh, after a full house, when everybody goes, don't you just miss them?

Your garden makes me green with envy, our garden looks a bit wild, yet the soil needs replenishing, the big flood washed away everything.

Anna: and snow tomorrow.

Kim: whereas I have plenty to wear but no invitation. Muffled sobs.

GG: I do miss them but with the party tomorrow I'm appreciating getting my breath back.

Jhad: have a heart - I've only just got her.

I hope you all have a lovely time at the party tomorrow! Tea at the Ritz sounds absolutely fabulous! I am sure she will have a very memorable time.

Your pics are great. I'm afraid that I have been stuck in an office while we have been having this nice weather. All I could do is look out the window.

Michele sent me to say hi.

I'd love to do that with my daughters when they reach 16.

I hope she has a brilliant time all dressed up and with all her pals there too. What a treat!

Sam: ah there's the rub! Mums and Grans are persona non grata.

Bob-kat: poor you - must be over soon?

CQ: I wish I could be a fly on the wall - or under the table catching crumbs:)
