Instow continued.

Aside

We went south to Bideford and bought Christmas presents. Not as daft as it seems because we see the French family in November for MTL's Birthdday lunch and the French PO tend to panic at Christmas and will return parcels from England rather than deliver them.

MTL thought I should photograph the crane.

On a murky day we drove north through Barnstaple and watched surfers at Braunton sands.

I prayed for a good day to do some of the Tarka Trail

More later.

Another lovely tour of pretty places, Pat...I love the picture of the Beach and the Ocean...
I did laugh when you said 'the French tend to panic...' Like, what is so difficylt about delivering a package? LOL! C'est La Vie...!

Thank you for the reminder to start xmas shopping!!!

Naomi: maybe it's me and the French; we would walk into a restaurant where we had booked lunch and they would run around like demented fleas.

Pat said...

Casdok: I apologise about that. It's just that if I get the presents done before Sunday I halve my work load and I save postage and the worry of if it will ever get there or not. And surely I will be saving a carbon footprint or two?

Said it before, but you take a good photo.
Particularly liked the one of the crane. Ask YTL if it's an old Ruston Bucyrus.

Doccie: the answer is 'very possibly' which means, I suspect that he doesn't know.

Sigh.

Sigh sigh sigh now I'm completely dissatisfied with where I live and I want to go *THERE*!

On the information board about the Tarka Trail, on the blue border on the left, there are different tracks: a tyre, a boot, a dog and what appears to be a bear's. Do they get a lot of those on the Tarka Trail?

Oh...there it is, my 'dissatisfied' comment.

The crane is lovely, just lovely. What is it about boys and machines? :-)

Johng: cranes! You're such a boy!
Sorry about Christmas but it is coming you know.

GG: I'd just love to see pics of where you live one of these days. I know you get very busy but have you thought about the Storytellers blog? see on side bar.

Gigi needs a break in England I think. It would definitely chill her out a bit.
And maybe she'd do a piece for your other blog.

Pat said...

Cream: wouldn't that be great. I'd love to hear her voice. Incidentally I'm just a guest; it's Kim and Eryl's blog.

Nea: well spotted! My guess is it is an otter print as I think bears there are thin on the ground - in spite of the beast of Exmoor.

'Tarka the Otter: His Joyful Water-Life and Death in the Country of the Two Rivers is a novel by Henry Williamson. The book narrates the experience of an otter. It was first published in 1927 by G.P. Putnam's Sons, with an introduction by the Hon. Sir John Fortescue, K.C.V.O.'
Your suggestion doesn't bear thinking about. Last pun and no return!

Of course, I had missed the picture of Tarka next to the heading "TARKA TRAIL". I seem to remember a film called "Tarka the Otter" too.
But I stilll think those tracks look more like bear than otter, the otter's is more pointed at the back, so be careful out there!
And "no return" is rather a harsh punishment, don't you think;)

Nea: it is a puzzle . I may have to do some delving. Of course I relent re puns. The thing is I'm so bad at them.

Heh, yes, England would sure 'chill' me...shiverrrr.

I'd love to read for the story teller's blog but something's wrong with my computer's sound...one day I'll get around to fixing it. Maybe I can ask my friend Annie to let me use her computer.....yes, that's what I'll do.

GG: it's great fun. I had to buy a mike and the grand kids sorted me out but next week I'll attempt to fly solo. Can't wait to hear you.
