News Flash

Like Mapstew yesterday - whose daughter did brilliantly in her exams - I am happy to say Alice has achieved the University of her choice and will be studying English and American Studies. Bethan also did well with the same grades - 2 x As and a B. She also has the University of her choice but not the same as Alice so it will be a long distance relationship. Well done girls.

Well done girls! Lots of good feeling about the place at the moment, happy young faces in and out of our house, all making plans! It's great. :¬)

How wonderful to pop in and read such happy results.

Congratulations to all three wonderful girls. Your hard work has paid off. Sending care and many smiles to you and your families (with extra huggles for you, dear Pat)

I trust her American Studies curriculum will include frequent visits to our fair shores for research into our strange and wondrous native behaviors. Have her call me; I'll show her around the Hinterland.

Cheers.

Granny Annie: on their behalf thank you.

Mapstew: happy days:)

Mickle: I'm basking in their sunshine:)

Randall: after a quick glance at the curriculum it does talk of time in the States and/or other countries but possibly second year. Thank you I'll pass the message on.

Hurrah, hurrah! It's been a tense day here while two teenage friends have been coping with the aftermath of not getting the results they wanted - I had one of them on the phone in tears at 8.30 am - but I'm glad to say both have achieved happy endings. Phew! A levels are so hard, I remember it well, congratulations to everyone.

Queenie: after hearing about all the problems with university places this morning I didn't want to phone in case it was bad news.
At least they seem to have things organised to help students find a solution.
I'm glad your two friends got it sorted.
Never having to take an exam again. I think that is higher on my list than Diana Athill's 'never having to open a gas bill again.'

Wonderful news...
Very well done !
I remember all the tests, looking at schools, applying for school and then the waiting for letters of acceptance !
So happy that part of my life is done with.

cheers, parsnip

Very well done indeed to both of them. How exciting to be young, beautiful and on the path you have chosen.

My niece should have her results too, I'll be seeing her next week, I hope her news is as good.

Pat said...

Kevin: thanks.

Eryl: it's such a difficult time for them. I tried to stress to Alice that as long as she had tried her best it didn't matter if she failed. Exams aren't the end of the world nor is academic prowess. Some amazing people were hopeless academically.
Good luck to her.

Savannah: apparently the numbers have increased with the addition of all the students who didn't get in last year. They are now going to make the exams harder!

YAY! Congratulations to them both!

Kath: thanks from Alice and Bethan.

Well done, I can imagine the celebrations all around, the joy, laughter.

I hope Alice hears you, Pat, when you tell her this: as long as she had tried her best it didn't matter if she failed. Exams aren't the end of the world nor is academic prowess. Some amazing people were hopeless academically.

Pat said...

GG: I think she took it on board. I'm sure she knows that is all I expect of her: to do her best.

Well done Alice and Bethan!

Add my congratulations to the pile. It's heartwarming to know there are young people who care about more than texting and Facebook.

Thank you Nea and Charlie.
