New Kid on the Block.

We vintage folk have a new champion. I never quite felt Joan Bakewell fulfilled her promise of looking out for us but Warden Files http://wardenfiles.blogspot.com/
is daily doing good turns for decent seniors. He’s kind to animals too and thinks nothing of holding up the traffic to save a wounded bird. If you are fortunate enough to have him in your area rejoice. And yet I can’t help feeling I know him from somewhere. Mapstew thinks he’s going to like him. Pop round and tell me what you think

Just words:

Pessimism, when you get used to it, is just as agreeable as optimism.
Arnold Bennett

If I have a thousand ideas and only one turns out to be good, I am satisfied

Alfred Nobel

I’d rather regret the things I have done than the things I haven’t.

Lucille Ball

Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow.

Helen Keller

Victory is fleeting. Losing is forever.
Billy Jean King

The hardest thing in life is to know which bridges to cross and which to burn.
David Russell

It is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers.

James Thurber

If you can’t return a favour, pass it on.
Louise Brown

I’d like to live as a poor man with lots of money.
Pablo Picasso.

And if you are feeling down in the dumps here is what Keats says:

But when the melancholy fit shall fall
Sudden from Heaven like a weeping cloud,
Then glut thy sorrow on a morning rose,
Or on the wealth of globed peonies.

And Kim(side bar) has some beauties.

Great selection of words of wisdom and humour; thank you. Lucille Ball is my favourite.

Queenie: she was such a delight to watch on a Sunday afternoon. Brilliant clown, sharp as a razor and probably hell to live with.

UB: UNDER the bridge?

The nice thing about pessimism is that there's always the possibility that one will be pleasantly surprised by an outcome. Disillusionment only comes for those with overly high expectations.

Cheers.

Thanks for introducing the Warden. I popped by, read his posts, and signed up as one of the gang.

I'm a big fan of Helen Keller. And I agree with Picasso about money.

Cheers to all spirited senior citizens!

GG: along with sick children Helen Keller is a lesson to us all.
