We do have an open fire place, well 2 actually, but we use neither of them. I do love the idea of having one but the idea of chopping up wood etc. all seems a bit too much like hard work.
Well, I do have a woodburning stove... and I do love it... but I been burning wood all winter and now I am looking forward to the summer break when I can stop clearing up after it. And to be honest, I wouldn't miss the spitty wood I sometimes get that explodes when I open the door leaving little burn marks where I least expect them. One day the telly is going to cop it - I live in fear. Sx
Rog: does the spitting not bother them? Mine doesn't spit.
Scarlet: there's always a fly in the ointment isn't there? Real ones are more fun to watch and can be quite mesmerising.
Mapstew: our other room has a gas one. We had it in our old house and liked it so bought another when we moved here. Unfortunately this room doesn't have a gas pipe and we didn't fancy the upheaval.
Grand mother but still a girl at heart. Married to MTL(my true love)after a separation of 30 years. Had three careers: trained paediatric nurse, National photographic model and business woman. Now settled in SW and enjoying our five children and ten grandchildren and making the most of what time we have left.
In January 2013 I lost MTL.

This looks cosy enough for me. Hot tea, soup, a good book, a nice blanket...mmm...
GG: and it has a big comfy sofa and no TV.

Looks very cosy. :)
Joey: the good thing is we can still have an open fire, should we feel the need, by simply moving the stove - and even I can move it.
Oz and Lily insist on a real fire but they don't have to do all the clearing out. Yours certainly looks the part.
That looks great!

Nice. We swopped ours for a gas version (with REAL flames) years ago, no mess! :¬)

No Pat, I don't do it in the living room :-)
Rog: tee hee!
No tv?
That cannot be!
Hehe, can you tell I love tv?
GG: if we re going to use the drawing room more I suspect a TV may creep in.
I won't have one in the kitchen.
