May Dixon Barnes

I've been thinking about my late mother's birthday all week and then forgot today after getting wound up about Helen Mirren. Dear Parsnip(side bar) reminded me with a tribute on her blog. Every day there is evidence of the fellowship between bloggers.
Sorry Mum.
The song and its singer is very dated - as it should be:)

What a lovely song! How about a picture of the wonderful woman who gave the world Pat :-)

Oh Pat. This may sound twee but it's meant earnestly - your Mum must have been a very special lady to have raised you.

Like Cloudcutter, I'd love to hear more about her.

Miss D and CC: give me a day or two to sort out a photograph and I'll do a post on Mum.

Mapstew: I hoped you'd like it.

The song might have worked better with a heavy metal guitar riff...

Meanwhile let me join my voice to the chorus asking for a pic, if you're ok with that :)

Yeah right.

Oh what a lovely baritone you have and I shall enjoy doing a post and plot on my mother.

I look forward to the post on your mother.
I spent the weekend looking at old photo's with my Mum, I think it cheered her up.

Scarlet: I'm sure it did. Make sure you hang on to the photos; My mother made me custodian of our old photos, fortunately.

You think about your mother with love, and that's what counts. It doesn't matter if you think of her on her birthday or any other day - any day is good for fond memories of loved ones. I speak to my mother every day, but I'm terrible with birthdays and almost forgot hers last time she changed a decade. (I'm not going to give away which decade it was)

Yes, it would be good to hear about your mum. And nice to hear a different kind of song too.

Ohhhh, I LOVED that Pat. It is such a sweet song by such a truly sweet and gifted singer. I sure wish we could understand all the lyrics of songs now the way we could---'back-in-the-day'. And besides understanding the actual words people are saying, the writing was wonderful too!
A Happy Birthday To You Mum, my dear Pat.

Leih: very true. Your book 'Road Closed ' arrived today and it looks great. I look forward to reading it.

Madame D: I hope to do it early next week. I just need time to think:)

Naomi: I've been singing it in my head for years - and getting the melody slightly wrong.
