NOVEMBER 5TH

NOVEMBER 5TH

“The three great elements of modern civilisation, Gunpowder, Printing and the Protestant Religion,”

Polly: and this year - just so everybody knows - I cannot do all the handwritten letters and hand wrapped presents. For Christmas that is!

Oh Pat, I wasn't really expecting anything hand wrapped, and a 'happy christmas' in the comments box will do just fine.

BTW Thanks for the recommendation of Zinna's blog - I have read part 1 and now nearly part 2. I would have loved to have made some comments along the way but doing it like this I can read lots of posts at once and it's more like a book.

Was going to say yummy of the last post... suppose it wouldn't be appropriate here...Miss firework night though. There are plenty here but not with the smell of old leaves and frost sometimes. Enjoy.

Thanks Polly - that's a help!

granny p: you can have the leaves and the frost and I'll settle for the eating al fresco in November:)

Polly! Wow! I'm so flattered.

Pat, I gave up doing handwritten Xmas cards/letters last year, except for my very nearest and dearest (and a few elderly friends and relatives who don't have email). Everyone else gets a circular email saying something like 'I've given £50 to the Red Cross instead of buying Xmas cards and stamps this year so please print out this email and put it on your mantelpiece'.

And Top Bloke has a t-shirt saying 'Guy Fawkes - the only person ever to enter Parliament with honest intentions'.

Zinnia: of course most of my friends don't know one end of a pooter from another. but they sre kind and understanding. My biggest problem is me!

Welcome Keith: it is a good place to settle as long as you eschew the fast lane or even the middle of the road lane. Was it Winchester that has the Jane Austin connection or Flo Nightingale - both heroes of mine?
I enjoyed a visit there.
