EARLY MORNING CALL
Aside.
‘PAT.’
Mum’s voice calling up the stairs.
‘Yeah?’
I woke up – MTL still asleep beside me. Mum died nearly seven years ago. Isn’t it strange when that happens? Was she calling me because I have an early appointment? Was she reminding me it is Son no 1’s birthday today? It doesn’t upset me. On the contrary. Like the song:-
‘I’m just a little girl lost in the wood,
I know that I,
Would if I could,
Have someone watch over me.
I intend to do the same.

I'm turning into my mother. It is disconcerting, because it's in ways no one else notices. The way I walk (not like her as an old lady, but as she did 30 years ago) and the way she took money out of her wallet.
I haven't dreamed about her recently though.
Don't you believe in spirits?????
If my mother calls me after she's shuffled off I'm callin' an excorcist
Z: I think one does - especially if there was loving relationship. Sometimes I notice funny looks when my speech goes pure Lancashire - if that isn't an oxymoron!
Banana: I do. As long as they are good ones.
4d: quite righr honey!
Aw that's comforting, but I'd be with 4Ds if mine stop in.

Nice attitude, Ms. Nurseperson.
Hi Hoss! Nice to have you visit young feller!
This might sound odd...sometimes, when my mum is out, and I'm sitting here writing, I'd get the feeling that someone's in the room...then two seconds later, I'd hear the car, my mother is back home.
GG: that's Mums for you! Mine always feels near me.
