Let's Dance!

This was my party piece for years and I still know all the words. Altogether now...

Beautiful!

Now we need to hear Pat's rendition! :¬)

That's quite a jump from the low note to the high note - well done!

Ah, la nostalgie. Not too many folks now remember Deanna Durbin.

Mapstew: sadly the voice has gone with the wind.

Gadjo: when I sang I became Deanna. On Sunday evenings my sister would play the piano and the long suffering family and anyone who happened to be around had to sit and listen to us. We often got through a whole song without artistic differences.

Berowne: nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgie. We are a select rapidly decreasing group.

This reminded me of the time my mother tried to teach me to waltz. I must have been about 12 or so and it was one of the funniest afternoons of my life. Hers too, I think. I did eventually get the hang of it but I can't actually waltz in public because whenever I try I'm transported back to that day and burst into fits of giggles.

Isn't Deanna Durbin a doll, just look at that face?!

"Always look on the bright side of life! de dum de dum de dum de dum"

oop...soz..wrong song...;-)

Winston Churchill called her a 'formidible talent' you know, and let's face it, you can't argue with Winnie eh?

Eryl: that's a delightful memory to have. But I think of all those dashing young men whirling you round and being devastated when you burst into merry peals of laughter. Too cruel;)

Four D: my first husband would have agreed; he was dotty about her.

That is an old 78rpm recording, but Durbin's range comes through clearly. Thank you for you nostalgia pieces, Pat.

By the way, I added a montage of desert flowers to my post about Phoenix.

Be sure to click on the photo to see them better.

Charlie: thank you - I'll be over pronto.

I am delighted to say that I am very familiar with Deanna Durbin! I like to think of you and your sister at the piano.

Leah: it's a lifetime away and we are continents apart so a repeat performance is sadly unlikely.

It doesn't seem right having Deanna Durbin singing without it being bracketed by Eugene Palette's gravelly voice.

Kevin; I caught a glimpse of him on TV today with Gene Tierney.
