News Flash!

If you can get BBC2 tomorrow at 2.50pm is my favourite film ever- I know where I'm Going with one of my favourite actresses - Wendy Hiller, Barry Norman says it's a beautifully told story, a romance for thinking adults. It convinced me that Scotland was the most romantic place on earth.
Below is a video about Wendy. I met her in the fifties and she really was a darling.

Ooooo, Pat, you little name dropper.

I was only only saying to Prince Charles at Selfridges the other day that I can't abide name droppers!

I'm a great fan of Wendy Hillers films too.

A joy to see her once again in the collage...I wish they had actually had more "clips"....I had forgotten that she won the Oscar for "SEPERATE TABLES"...She certainly was the BEST thing in it!
It was on again recently...Not a good film, as we talked about before....!
I thought she was a very special actress!

If you get a chance, I have some 'memory' pictures up....!

Alas, dear, no Beeb in rural, bucolic Missouri. I'll have to wait until it comes over the pond on public television.

Cheers.

Didn't see the film I'm afraid because, believe it or not, I was gardening. Looking through your recent posts I loved the Turkey poem.

Keith: she told me that nine times out of ten people got her name wrong: Hillier instead of Hiller and it's true. Glad you're a fan too.

Naomi: there is a you tube of her with clips from IKWIG.

Randall: that's a shame. It was even better than I remembered.

Sandy: gardening in December? Golly. Glad you liked the poem. I've no idea how I came to have it.

I'm far, far, over here with no BBC2, darn it. But next time I am rich, we will head off to Scotland.

It's also one of my favourite films of all time, but as P and P film, it would always be up there. She is wonderful in it, but I swoon at the sight of Roger Livesey. I have it on DVD and still watched it yesterday too.

Maggie: you'll be needing plenty of warm sweaters then:)

Judy: she wasn't conventionally beautiful but in the film when her hair gets windblown and curly with the damp she looks enchanting IMO.

Madame D: on of the things that attracted me about my first husband - he spoke like Roger L. BTW rack my addled brain as I may I can't fathom 'P and P film.' Do put me out of my perplexity.
