Sadness and Smiles

Yesterday the 11th of September was a sad day and should always be remembered but I did manage two smiles. Margaret – about to move to another part of the country has decided that in order to cut down on removal expenses and hassle, they should get together all the opened bottles of drink they have collected over the years and finish them off before the move. They are doing it in a civilised manner – a Madeira evening followed by a Sherry evening and then a Tia Maria for a change. They should finish all the various liqueurs by the moving date and are disregarding the recommendations to finish bottles fairly soon once they are open.

Marigold who has recently started working on cold meats in the supermarket hasn’t yet quite got the hang of the customer staff relationship situation. She has her name – as do all the staff emblazoned on her bosom but when a customer says;
‘Just a bit more salami on that Marigold,’ she will glare at them and say:
‘Do I know you?’

Have a nice week-end.

Yes, I think we should really enjoy our spirits and indulge in them frequently while we've got them! Good choice on their part --do you go over in the evenings?

Kanani: not as a rule. It has to be something really special to tempt us out in the evening eg when the kids are here.

One wonders how old some of those Bottles are? LOL! I suppose if it doesn't tsste good----Out it will go! I think that is a great idea, by the way. Are you included un these evenings of drink?

"Do I know you?" I'm still laughing.

Naomi: actually lunch time would suit me better. I might have a word:)

Edelweiss: glad I'm not the only one;)

I hope that they are mindful of the exhortation to not exceed one's weekly units. All this binge drinking will lead to rack and ruin.

As Margaret booked the liver transplant, yet?

Cheers.

Funny stories both, but "Marigold" is a classic. Thanks for the laugh.

I didn't have the time to have an evening of . . . I didn't want the contract to fall through so I was packed and out in 2 weeks. . . but when friends came to help pack they left with "lovely parting gifts" as the game shows say. . . They picked out wines and spirits so I really only had 2 boxes of bottles for the moving company to pack.

If I lived any where near that market, I would be saying "Marigold's" name any time I could. Love love love that name... I would adore knowing a Marigold !

Wonderful stories today.

MadameD: I'm hoping it won't be 'The Lost Weekend.' all over again

Randall: now you've got me worried. Maybe the neighbourly thing to do would be to go and join them.

Charlie: everybody should have a Marigold in their life. I have two:)

Parsnip: that was pretty nifty doing it in two weeks. Margaret's move looks like dragging on and on.

I have read your comments on my blog and I'm pleased you're getting a few more visitors. It might be a while until I get round to replying to this batch of comments on my site - it's all a bit hectic. I've gone from 40 visits a day to over 200 an hour. I'm hoping it calms down soon.

At least Marigold isn't getting people asking what the other breast is called...

Kim: I'm really proud of you. You're one of the big boys now and it's only surprising it hasn't happened earlier. You thoroughly deserve it. When I think about it many of the bloggers I really relate to I have met through you. You are truly a catalyst.
Take it easy - I know you have a lot going on just now.
This should be an email or a comment on your site but I don't want to add to the chaos. Fondest.xoxox

LOM: she is a bit of a card isn't she?

As alcohol evaporates faster than water, you could argue that long-since opened liqueurs are less alcoholic than freshly opened ones and so you can have more! That would be my excuse, anyway :)

Pat said...

Pootle: welcome! I like your thinking;)

Marigold gave me my first giggle for the morning.

When my cousin's 18 yr. old son got his holiday job at a supermarket, he told his other young cousins that they are to act cool when they see him.

GG: I wonder if they do?
