How Very Dare They?

See those three photos below? They have no business being there and I’m quite cross. I was just about to describe why I was posting them and they shot out of my mouse like greased lightning. I feel quite powerless in my own blog.

So anyway - on our last outing Joy showed us the brooch which her daughter had brought her from Thailand. It is a real orchid – treated in some way, gilded and made in to a piece of jewelry. It just struck me that her daughter – who I have never met – should choose something quite similar ( well I think so ) to the ones below, which we chose with such care.

Have a good week-end.

I clicked to make big! I wonder how they used a real orchid?
Where did you want the three pics to go?

Plus I think Blogger has been doing some updating because avatars are appearing where they didn't used to.

Scarlet: soak it in aspic? I don't know - one of the any things I take on trust.
It was the fact that the pictures displayed themselves before I had chance to label them or write any blurb. I often have to do them separately but at least have a heading of some sort.
Changes appear all the time - not always for the better.

I have many of the orchids, in earring, necklace, braclet and broach formats from my mothers land. They are dipped in 24k gold and then painted to enhance them. They sadly sit in my jewellery box and haven't been worn for years as I haven't had an occassion to wear them. Maybe I should prod Girlpants with a heavy hint of a nice meal out..??

Hope that you're both well and in fine fettle?? Am now going to play catch up and read the posts I have missed in the last few months...

Sim: how marvellous that you have them too and can explain how they do it. Do prod Girlpants and have a great night out. I'm sure you deserve it.
We're both well thank you and about to have a week in our favourite cottage.

Not much of a jewelry aficionado here, but those look nice. BTW, every ring I've ever bought the EMBLOS, including our engagement ring, she's lost. Fortunately, the wedding ring is still there, I think, because she can't pry it off her finger.

Cheers.

(PS. Neither of us had blond hair, but my wife's grandmother did.)

I love all of those -- anything decorated with flowers -- and that orchid is indeed stunning.

So glad to hear you may escape the operation! Good for you for doing the exercises.

If you should come by my place, any chance you know something about Eton mess?

Randall: that's awful. Maybe she takes them off every time she washes her hands. I was taught by one of my patient's mother to put it between my teeth when I washed hands in a public place. I have lots of pieces bought by MTL who felt he had to catch up on all the years we were apart so I no longer encourage him to buy - except occasionally:)
I lost a treasured, tiny opal ring we bought in Australia and found if months later where it had rolled under a bed.

Edelweiss: Keeping the exercises up will be a testing time; sitting and standing ones are fine but i have to remember to do the prone ones in bed.
Eton mess - raspberries or strawberries and meringue and cream all mixed up together - a right mess indeed.

Amazing the things that can be done with flowers and leaves. A cousin of mine has a gold-dipped leaf, a fine, delicate thing.

Catching up here, after an unexpectedly busy week. One's power of control over mouses can be unexpectedly weak. One reason why I went for a Mac - no mice to feed. Lovely orchid, very skilfully done.

GG: I'd never heard of it before. My sister is just about to visit her son in Thailand - maybe she'll buy one out there. Last time she was there an elephant drew a picture for her and she was told the elephant would remember her. She's quite sane really:)

MadameD: Oh what do you have instead of a mouse I wonder?

My mother had a similar orchid brooch which she purchased in Hawaii. It's beautiful.

Sheri: I wish I had known about them earlier. I'm sure my mother would have loved them.

Ha, Pat, I hope your cousin said kind words to the elephant, I've heard they can be spiteful if they remember bad things about you.
I too am sane. I hope.
hahaha.

GG: its my sister. She's the same age as MTL so I take my hat off to her travelling from New York to Thailand. I'm sure she said kind words as she obviously was entranced by the elephant and treasured his painting.

It just shows how well you all know her I think.

I'm in Blogger dark ages as I'm still on the old platform. Still wobdering whether to switch to wordpress.

Anna: I live in blind ignorance as to where I am blogger wise - like an old leaf blown hither an yon and no clue as to what does what. I get a going over and a tidy up when Alice and Tom come but they look at my documents and pictures chaos and shake their heads in disbelief.
