Drat!

I listened to the loop endlessly learning how to retune the TV today at lunchtime – whatever that means - when they change from analogue to digital. I even recited it to the girls when they came for coffee this morning. They listened politely but had made other arrangements. Good for them. I’m not a complete nincompoop – the proof being I managed to do it with my mother’s ancient Sony but as for our brand new Samsung there was no visible way I could find settings so the menu was the wrong menu. And the instructions useless.

Naturally all the engineers are out and the phone is ’red hot’ but someone may call later. Just tell me where you have hidden settings and I can cope myself. Anyhow that is why my today’s post will have to be tomorrow. Sorry.

Oh dear. Luckily that changeover happened here with no intervention needed from me. Otherwise I would've passed that buck to the hubs.

Fortunately I have kids in the house that can figure it out, so I left it to them.

A quick call to one of the descendants perhaps?

Ours changed over to digital in June, but my new converter box is still in the box, waiting for some kind soul to hook it up.

In the meantime, I haven't missed the television in four months—nothing but crap.

I had to spend my lunchtime at my 72-year old friend's flat retuning his TVs and recorders! Trouble is, each one is different so they can't print generic instructions.

People who write manuals need a good lesson in writing instructions, honest.

My new television turned out to be surprisingly easy - but as Pootle says, they're all slightly different so I don't think telling you what I did would help. The nerve-wracking bit was when I had to agree to delete all current settings, would have been most embarrassing to have to ring an offspring to put me right if it hadn't reloaded.

We have 3 TV's on cable and they are no problem, but the ones not on cable? A total bust. I bought the digital boxes and I can only get 4 channels on 1` TV and nothing on the other one. I don't know why they had to switch and it stinks!!

Four dinner: I was beginning to worry about you. I'm going to have to change my side bar again aren't I?

Leah: sadly MTL hasn't a clue with machines.

Kim: I was on the phone doing just that this afternoon but beyond telling me I just needed to find the right button he wasn't much help. Even the shop said it was too difficult to explain n the phone!!!!!!

Charlie: I agree much of it is rubbish but I still want to retune the wretched thing.

Pootle: your friend is indeed fortunate. Why do they make a big palaver of giving instructions without saying it doesn't apply to all sets.

GG: I'm in total agreement:) And I think they should be punished.

Z: well I was surprised that I managed to do the old Sony although the language was - different I could work round it but this b----r is impossible.
I never feel embarassed asking for the boy's help and they even give me bouquets for being fairly computer literate - at my age:)

These kinds of things drive me nuts! And getting technical help is a nightmare!!! I hope you hear back from one of those engineers, very soon, my dear. Things are getting MORE Complicated I think, not less!!

Another new post will go up in the early A.M....(I'm working on it now) And if you get a chance--do come by. Read the one below it first, if possible---They are related....! (lol)

I have cable and new TV's so I didn't have to do anything. . . Thank Goodness. . .

I have an all region DVD player so I have to use 3 remotes. . . I think you can see smoke coming from my ears as the gears in my head move as I think what to do... that's what I get for being a fan of Asian movies !

Hope they get back to you !

Kanani: I can do it if the instructions are clear.

Naomi: I am expecting the engineers today and will be round at yours after:)

Parsnip: cable - way to go:)

Perhaps the engineers have already done it for you but here's a useful website:
http://www.tvretune.co.uk/productmanuals/
Though if the instructions aren't clear it won't help of course :)

Pootle: thank you thank you thank you.
I did it with your help BEFORE the engineers came and had a moment of glory when I rang to tell them. I'm sooooo grateful:)
