The Handwriting Game

Against all my principles I'm submitting this wretched specimen simply because Leah ( see side roll - I'm too unnerved for
html) asked me to.

I've seen a few of these handwriting posts floating around. I rather enjoy the insight (however limited) into the person behind the blog. I'm not much of one for graphology, but seeing someone's handwriting in these days is a pleasant surprise. Have a lovely weekend (hopefully without rain this time).

I look forward to the result, if you publish it. You still have a nice hand, mine's like a chicken walking across the road.

LOL, LOL...Well, I honestly had a bit of trouble reading this, my dear dear Pat...Some words I just couldn't make out at all...But then, my eyesight is not what it used to be....! OY!
I do think it is a fun idea but I'm not sure to what end....

it's more legible than mine, Pat.

Are we going to set to read what she says about your handwriting?

Pat, your handwriting smacks of theatrical traits, and a keen sense of fun. Also other things I cannae put to paper in such a family orientated blog. ; )

Whew. I read the typed part of the post and thought perhaps someone was faking your name or something. Memo to self: Read the blog links before freaking out.

BTW, your handwriting is lovely.

Cheers.

Years of temping in the 1980s made me a champion at reading people's handwriting, but two of your words defeated me - did the graphologist really say you had had weak machinery for many years?

I couldn't read that! Sorry.

I forgot to mention. Those "russet colored" plants in my botanical post are actually glass sculptures. The garden maintains quite a collection of Dale Chihuly glass scattered about. Very well done.

(Another reason not to take my boys.)

Cheers.

Pat, this is perfectly charming! I loved it. I am so glad that "honesty prevailed" and you revealed yourself rather than co-opting the hand of YTL (although it would be fun to see his as well). I could read it without even squinting too much! *winks* (Jimmy already used the emoticon, so I thought I'd go another way).

I love still getting handwritten note, handwriting is another form of art to me. There is something so wonderful to be able to touch/hold a letter..
Your handwriting comes across very light, playful and charming to me...is she going to analysis it ?

It's strange to see handwriting, especially on a computer. As far as yours is concerned, Pat, you write better than any doctor I've ever known.

Pat said...

Madame: I'm glad it was a pleasant surprise - but could you read it? We are getting rain but have just bought some plants so it saves me a job.

Anna: I''m not sure if there is a result or just comments. I'll publish if there is.

Naomi: nobody promised you could read it;) I'll do a translation as I think it is probably illegible and people don't like to say. Except you and John!!!

Kim: then I fear you are doomed!

Pat said...

Judy: other than comments I'm not sure. As usual I didn't read the instructions first.

Jimmy: and that's my very best handwriting. Good job I didn't let myself go.

Randall: memo to me: read the link before you embark on a me-me to know exactly what it entails.

Pat said...

Savannah: I'm losing comments and it is mayhem here just now. Re your query I may have been able to resist both you and Leah but the two of your together? No way. I'm doing it for both of you.xoxoxox

Queenie: clever girl! Translation coming up.

John.g: I'm sorry - I'm going to do a translation:)

Randall: well they looked like flowers to silly old me.

Pat said...

Leah: I didn't quite get if we actually get a diagnosis - or just comments?

Parsnip: that is very kind. I can't answer your question - see above.

R. Sherman says "BTW, your handwriting is lovely".

I was always taught that the written word was meant to convey information, and not to show the "personality and individuality" of the writer.

I am sorry, Pat, but I just cannot read that, even enlarged.

I was taught at an early age to write using the "Chancery" or Italic script. See my writing here. I collect old fountain pens.

My Tutor told me that "if someone spoke to me the way they write to me then I would take it as an insult and never speak to them again"! He also said that untidy writing reflects a disordered mind.

Pat, I am only quoting, so please don't take offence. I know my handwriting is very formal, but I cannot change at this late stage in life to "reflect my personality", nor would I want to.

As to the so-called art of graphology, to analyse someones personality. Poo! Like astrology, it's a load of rubbish!

Pat said...

Charlie: I appreciate what you say:)

Keith: if Randall thinks that I'm happy to accept it.
The vital thing is that writing should be legible. One of my oldest friends - a man - has copper plate handwriting and it takes me days to decipher his letters.
You should be proud of your writing and I can't take offence about something I have already admitted to.
For the last few years - in consideration for others I have typed all my letters apart from those regarding bereavement which I feel should be written by hand.

I'm glad honesty prevailed, and I nearly fell off my chair about the nunnery bit; see I can read it and that has nothing to do with your above translation! X

Pat said...

Eryl: the nunnery bit was at a very different time in my life which had also been likened to living in glass cage. I broke out.

Eryl said...

I hadn't thought of that. I'm very glad you broke out, very glad indeed.

Pat said...

Eryl: needless to say - so am I.It was quite a while before MTL re-appeared and before we married I told him all.

Madame DeFarge said...

Yes, I could read it, but I am good at reading practically any handwriting. Still looks good to me.

Anonymous said...

I joined in this too- your handwriting is very individual, very recognisable. It's been a fun meme!

Pat said...

MadameD: I was trying very hard. When MTL want me to sign something he always says 'Your BEST handwriting please.'

Cinnamon: saw yours - its what I call respectable handwriting. Lucky you:)
