Is there anyone there?

What’s going on? When I leave my in-box the latest email sits neatly at the bottom of the column. It always has until three days ago when it was replaced by an email I received in 2006 from my sister in the States reminding me that it was the date of her late husband’s birthday and that it was nine years since he died. How strange I thought and had a long scroll to get back to today. It now happens every time I leave my in-box.

My late mother always believed that her mother – my Grandmother - could always get in touch with her – usually through dreams and my sister and I sort of feel the same way about Mum; blame the Irish in us. Is she trying to tell me something? I have just sent an email to my sister and await her answer.

You never know Pat, I do believe that our loved ones never go far away

LOM: yes - it can be very comforting at times.

Oh... I think you've switched the oldest/newest thing round, so that the oldest mail shows first.
I do this sometimes... and then forget how to switch it back again. It's very frustrating.

I've an open mind when it comes to things like that but I also think computers are pretty good at playing tricks.

Oooooooo How spooky and bizarre about your in-box....I cannot wait to hear what your sister writes back to you....But I do believe there are 'angels' around us and they are our loved ones....

Finally got my Birthday Post (Part 1) up just a little bit a ago....!
WHEW! (lol)...I'm just not myself so everything is slower...But....I am hanging in, my dear.
If you get a chance...come on by!

Scarlet: You are like Nea(see sidebar)- always can get to the heart of a problem. Don't let anyone ever tell you you are a dizzy blonde - you are one of the brightest blogger I know. AND can put your erudition into simple language - what a gift. (Doccie please note)

Sandy: problem seems to be solved but I still don't know how it happened.

Naomi: I've just been over and want my orchid spray , goody bag etc etc. It all looks SOOO attractive

i think scarlet may have hit right on the head, sugar! the date received column header has a triangle facing up or down indicating order received. it really is easy to hit it by mistake and change the order. i do like your reason better, i must admit! oxox

(btw, i had sent an email to you re: the french iphone with a question for your son. did you ever receive it?)

Who knows, I wonder what your sister will think of this.

I'm not sure whether deceased loved ones are always around, but then again they don't ever leave your memory so they're still with you no matter what. I had a really nice dream last night about my father and my grandparents. They are all deceased but my mind can still 'conjure' them back in my dreams. :)

To expand on Scarlet's well observed answer, if you look along the top of your inbox, you'll see the headings of From, Subject, Received, etc. If you click on any of those headings, it orders everything according to that heading. So if you click on From, for example, it will list everything in your inbox alphabetically from the name of the sender. If you click it again, it reverses the order.

The same happens with each of the categories, so if you click Received, it puts them in date order. Click it again and it puts it in reverse date order.

So if you're getting your oldest emails in the wrong place, just click the Received header and that should do it :)

Darn, I'm sort of disappointed that there was a perfectly good explanation for this.

I had a similar experience but it remains unexplained to this day--you can read about it here if you like. I must admit to believing in such things...

That's weird, but I've had something similar happen here too. My computer is getting old, sop maybe it forgets it has already shown me that mail? LOL

coo you are a clever lot! I am going to have a play with my emails now, just to see

Savannah: I hope you get my email which I sent this afternoon. Apologies. I await an answer from French son.

Kim: many thanks. Re brightest bloggers - I was only talking about the girls - obviously:)

LEAH: well I heard from my sister and she - at 81 - has decided to leave her sheltered home for the unknown which is a worry but who listens to their younger sister?
I'll just follow your link. Anyone who puts links in comment boxes has my admiration:)

Leah: that is very strange and I don't understand it but it just goes to show.

Wontlet: those dreams are the best - I love them - so precious.

Judy: I'm going to try Kim's solution when i finish this.

LOM: mind how you go - you might lose the lot:)

although there is a perfectly rational clicked the wrong button explanation, something made you click that button – something, someone...

Eryl: yeah! My Mum:)

All: in case you are consumed with curiosity (like I usually am)at the deleted comments - they were my errors - surprise surprise.

I want to believe it's a message for you, not technical stuff. I like wonderment.

MissD: if you had known my mother or my grandmother you would truly believe:)
