Dirk Bogarde, who could ever forgive his erudite performance as a 'true Scot' in the filum Campbells Kingdom?

You're right about the music though Pat.

Hi PI- saw a comment by you at leah's- I see you are from the same county as me- how funny is that?- I have never met anyone so 'local' on blogger- I'll be back. Boys are baying for computer time.

Jimmy: and then he was a sort of Spanish cowboy which was cringe making. But he was amazing in 'Darling' playing a very desirable man (honestly)and in Death in Venice brought out the tragedy of a hopeless love; sitting dying with his hair dye dripping down his face in the Venetian sun.
Glad you like the music.
Blogger is mucking me about!!!!!

and then all those beautiful costumes went up in smoke in a warehouse fire. oh, they were heavenly!

Eryl: Naomi has that problem so I always try to put the URL. It's the first comment

Beleek: oh I didn't know that. The dresses were beautiful - what a shame.

Today I can play it, so odd! But I used your link yesterday and watched it on you tube: love the boy's beach attire!

Thank you for the link, Pat....O LOVE this film...Everything about it. Between The Mahler and Dirk Bogarde and the BEAUTIFUL Costmes, etc., etc....Visconti outdid himself....As you said, a haunting film.
When he sits on the beach and the dye runs down his cheek....Heart Breaking! A beautiful, beautiful film by a master filmaker!

Wat made you think of this film today, Pat?

Pat said...

Eryl: in spite of the contentiousness of the subject I still find it very sad. I've always loved Mahler's swellings of sound

Naomi: my mind was full of Honey and candles and prayers and good wishes and I wanted to play some beautiful music. I couldn't remember the number of the sumphony but knew it had been used in 'Death in Venice.'
Then I remembered what a wonderful film it had been and thought it worth spreading the word.

Came back to see your answer...It is the MOST Beautiful Music....
And also to urge you to come on over to my place and see the "Purple/Blues"....I feel like I am off the radar somehow in our Blogworld...Oh well.....that's how life is sometimes, isn't it?

Naomi: I'm coming. I think it may be that if one is a 'follower' one gets the new post on one's dashboard.
