Aside
Its sweater time and I was annoyed to discover that one of my good ones had poky bits over the shoulders even though they had been on a hanger protected by unused shoulder pads. So I am reverting to my old method of hanging out to dry by using tights. Thread the tights through the neck of the sweater – the waist at the neck and the feet through the sleeves. You can then peg the sweater on the line without touching it – by pegging the waist and feet of the tights. I’m also reverting to my old way of packing them- simply rolling them in tissue paper. This last week-end I took a holdall instead of a suit-case so it was the only way to do it - and it worked.
Today is the birthday of my dear friend Margaret. We make a point of inexpensive gifts and I had given her some special biscuits and a pretty sparkly little box. She phoned this morning to thank me but was most thrilled with the wrapping paper. One of MTL’s present was wrapped in this pretty and tactile paper so I recycled it. Apparently it had an oriental design which is very apt as her daughter is even now in
I was not so delighted this morning when I took my brand new, frighteningly expensive glasses out of their pink shiny case and felt a razor sharp edge on the hinge. They are beautiful, light as a feather and I had decided they were worth the expense but now feel upset that they should be flawed so soon. I have a silver compact mirror which developed the same fault and in spite of various fiddlings it has never been right. This is much more important. Of course I have taken them back and await developments. Fortunately my old ones are still useable.
On another grumpy note has anyone else had problems with site meter lately? I have been without for three days and missed it. It’s always nice to know that lots of people pop in even though they don’t comment and it feels quite lonely without it. Normal service is now resumed but I’ve lost those three days for ever.
‘We are having problems with the people who service your account’.
Whatever that means.
I’d like to end on a cheerful note so here it is: doh!

Well, we're glad you got all that out of your system. BTW, the photo has sort of a fifties, bobbie soxer feel to it.
Cheers.
Site meter was down Saturday, Sunday, and part of Monday. I was told they had lost everyone whose codename started with s21. But it was restored. I first noticed it when I saw the little link to Site Meter had disappeared from my blog page so went searching for my stats and found ... nothing. Mine is fully restored now (including the page link). All I'm missing is statistics for those 2.5 days.
Does that help?
I love the tights tip!
Jack: thanks; that was my experience exactly - same number too.
f:lux: glad I remembered it:)
Randall: I wasn't a bobby soxer but it was the fifties. Come to think of it I'm not entirely sure what a BS is - a teenager?
Oooh good tights tip. I've walked around with these pointy bits before like some sort of marionette with strings on my shoulder.
My sitemeter is an s23 so it worked but only after taking about 5 minutes to load each page. Glad they've sorted it.
Love that picture of you Pat...It is always so much fun seeing photo's from your Modeling days....
I feel like lately many things are making me grumpy...lol!
They are working next door to me and the noise level just finally reached "Last Straw" Proportions yesterday....I went ut there and asked them how much longer this was going to go on....the answer? TWO MORE MONTHS!!!! Talk about The Grumps!!! OY!
I don't understand any of these counter things...I don't have site meter I have a different one and I do not find it that helpful at all.....In fact I am thinking of stopping it....(Oh More Grunps...LOL)
Sam: it really pleases me that my tip is useful. I like the marionette thingy!
Naomi: I really feel for you. Neighbour noise is such a pain in the butt. We have a bungalow opposite us and it has had four different owners in the last few years and all of them have had builders in for months spending hundreds of thousands and when the noise gets me down I feel like shouting 'Hello! Its only a bungalow. Get over it!'
The good thing about site meter is it's free.
If only you'd taken the note before or after doh, I'm sure they'd have cheered you more ;)
Pat, this is the absolutely WEIRDEST coincidence ever! Check out the name of my post today. I swear to you, I am only NOW reading yours...it's minutes to 5 pm here.
Now I'll go read what you've written.
Happy birthday to your friend Margaret.I wish her daughter too happy motherhood with her new daughter from China.
Nea: I know ray is after doh but not what comes before. Ah yes you clever thing its tea:)
GG: I'll tell Margaret. She will be her third adopted grandchild.
That's a lovely picture of you. I have a video called "How we lived 1950's & 1960's" and there a a
few adverts fom that time and I'm sure you are in a couple of them. "MaCleans" toothpaste (such a lovely smile), and "Imami" hair conditioner.
Once seen, never to be forgotten!
Pat, you were/are so beautiful! I love that pic. I don't hang sweaters,I lay them on towels to dry.
Keith: I wonder whatever happened to Imami?
Judy: that is the correct way but it takes so long I cheat - and the results are ace.
GG: you know what they say about great minds:)
Michele sent me and I am delighted to meet you. That is a great tip about the sweaters. Only I will have to buy some tights.
Star: welcome! Yes come to think of it one hardly ever wears tights these days- but I still have plenty.
what a great idea about drying the sweaters! i always have that same problem.
michele sent me to learn about that.
Drying sweaters... not here but I am drying boardshorts and swimming costumes though!!!
Here from Michele's this lovely Sydney morning with Thunder Storms forcast with a top of 25!!!
barbie2be: I hope you have tights:)
Hi Bernie! Keep safe!
you've reminded me that i have a huge bag full of woollens awaiting their pre-summer-storage laundering! (i quite like doing laundry, so this is a good thing)
my mum's always used the stocking-trick for drying jumpers, so i use it myself. my friends, who for the most part had much less domesticated upbringings than i did, think it's hilariously odd... but then, most of them use pegs on their t-shirts, too :::shudder:::
guess whose tops and jumpers still look like tops and jumpers?
in a pinch (for the non-stocking-wearers) a dressing-gown belt works, too. but stockings are better, and a cheap pair stuffed down the bottom of the peg tin will last pretty much forever.
Amy: hooray! I knew you would be like minded. The dressing gown belt is a good fall back. I remember being very impressed with your domesticity when i first met you - as it were.
Hi Pat....GOOD MORNING TO YOU.....It is still NIGHT here....LOL!
I have a new post up and I think you might enjoy it....More Birds & Fruit.....! Michele sent me here this day.....! Hope your Friday is a lovely one!
Naomi: I'll be over later today. I have the girls coming and I'm running late. See you later.
Sitemeter's been a pain lately.
Love that sweater - perfect for nuzzling.
Kim: it's not often I'm speechless!
Hmmm... trying to think what I meant, and what you interpreted...
*cough*
I was actually at quite a low point when I visited and there seemed to be something of a comfort factor here, especially after your comment about rocking me like your gran used to. Suddenly I could envisage just letting go and snuggling in and not worrying about anything...
Not sure if I'm just digging myself deeper in here...
Kim: Firefox doesn't seem to want me to answer your comment but all is well:)
