With bated breath I tried once more. I didn't dare write any copy and it worked.
He wasn’t getting a knighthood – just invited to one of the Queen’s garden parties – courtesy of the firm he works for and something to do with umbrellas.

Glad it worked, my dear....I LOVE that picture of the "audience", with almost no one there.....There is something about that, for me....
Tom has such a sweet face...!
And 'one of the Queens Garden Parties---That sounds like great fun.

They're great! I'm glad you got that bit sorted out. Loved the previous post re: the photog. Late to the show again.

So if I lived there could I call it "Buck Pal"?

Exile: not sorted to my complete satisfaction but I live in hope.

Granny Annie: I can't tell you the fun I've had trying to remember the name of the American who first used 'Buck Pal.'
I knew he had married a famous actress who latterly had acted in a play written by a well known playwright about a Russian spy.
Of course the playwright was Alan Bennett, the actress Coral Browne and the American actor Vincent Price. Considering I couldn't remember a single name that's not bad.
I hereby give you permission to use 'Buck Pal':)

Smashing photos. We've always referred to it as Buck House - and my Dad went there many many years ago for a garden party, but the closest I've ever got is peering through the railings out front.

Pat said...

Sharon: that's the next best thing but couldn't he have taken you?
I rather hoped Tom would have taken me:)

Hello Pat. Not really a comment, but I got your comment re Scrabble, and have been trying to raise you on Facebook Scrabble, without success. Seem to have lost the knack. Could you give me a try, and I'll gladly accept your challenge.
Regards, Mike.
P.s. If you succeed, could you please make sure that the dictionary we use is Collins. The other choices seem childishly simple, and more in keeping with American spelling and usage than ours.

Mmm, so that what Buck Pal looks like close up. I tied to spot The Queen, but as all the women are wearing big hats it's quite difficult. Seriously though, it looks like it was a lovely day, top marks to everyone.

Pat said...

Mike and Ann: I saw the game you started and am playing. Collins it is:)

Gadjo: her Maj was there the day before. I'm trying not to take it personally:)

Buck Pal! Haha. At first I thought it was somewhere folksy. Then I realised.

Tom looks like a prince, by the way.

GG: the silly boy has been giving too much blood and is now not allowed to give any for a year and is on iron tablets.

Good heavens, he sounds like my second brother, the one in Florida, he has some unusual blood type...some years ago, my mother had to tell the hospital there, Enough!

Pat said...

GG: his blood count had got very low. Hopefully with pills and time he'll be back to normal.
My mother got badges for giving so much blood.
