Oh Pat both photos are lovely.
I have to admit I have a soft spot for photos from the fifties. There is usually a warmth to them that shines through.

cheers, parsnip

Lovely!

Parsnip, Judy and Z: thank you.
BTW the only reason I can publish these photo in my present impasse with Picasa is because I had them on draft.

Quite apart from the beautiful model, I can really appreciate the photography by Neil too, using the sun as a backlight :)

I love these pictures, Pat....You were so very Beautiful and you definitey still are, my dear....How lovely that you heard from this great photographers son...! And to find out he was even more of a wonderful human being than you thought...! His book sounds very exciting.

John: xox

Kim: he actually came to my home in Epsom to save me trailing up to London with the baby. It was taken in the back garden with - I think - brilliant results.
In his studio he would use an enormous box like camera into which he would bury his head and all one would see was the top of Neil's balding head.

Naomi: I'm just reading the book about Liberace - so it will make a great contrast to that.

nothing will every replace the beauty of b/w photos i think - there is just something - a marvelous something about them - and yours is a prime example of that - oh, and i remember those pillow-in-the-lap days! ;) anyway, a wonderful portrait of you and your beautiful son - then - and your handsome grown son now - the book definitely sounds like a to-be-read for my stacks -thanks so much for sharing -

Which book is that, my dear?

Pat said...

Gypsy: the good thing also about b/w photos - they don't deteriorate. That one has been hanging in the nursery for years.

Naomi: 'Behind the Candelabra: My Life With Liberace' by Scott Thorson. I saw a clip of the film with Michael Douglas but the book is revelatory - not in a good way.

You have the X Factor, Pat! A timeless quality.

MsQ: ah - if only:)

Pat, you are totally recognisable five decades on, and how many of us could claim that.

Pat said...

Mike and Ann: it's very kind of you to say so.

I notice in the first pic the popper-bead necklace has now been replaced by real pearls, and you still look as beautiful as ever.

When is your autobiography coming out? I keep checking W H Smiths and Amazon, but no luck!

Pat said...

Keith: as you may imagine the book has been way, way down in my priorities for the last few months.
But MTL was always so encouraging and supportive I'm beginning to flex my muscles and at least think about doing something.
