Just one of those days

Just one of those Days

I hadn’t realised just how often I look at my kitchen clock. I noticed it was ten minutes slow when we got back from Hertfordshire and my son adjusted it.  Now it has gone hay wire and obviously has come to the end of its lifespan.  Or does it just need a battery?  I’m afraid I haven’t a clue but am gearing myself to get it down and try to discover – it is high above the Aga

I still haven’t posted all the photos from Cheltenham let alone the ones I took on this last break so this morning I thought I would post – at least – the photos of grandson Tom at Buck Pal.  He wasn’t getting a knighthood – just invited to one of the Queen’s garden parties – courtesy of the firm he works for and something to do with umbrellas.

Usually when I have difficulty – far too often IMO – Blogger gives in after the sixth time of trying, but today no way!

I went downstairs to make a cuppa and my newish Kenwood kettle wouldn’t oblige.  The blue light was on but no-one home.  In other words the electricity is working but the kettle is US.  Then I noticed there was a hornet on the kitchen window.

I know I’m just a weak and feeble woman but to Hell with it – I’m going to play Scrabble!

Well, good for you! I love playing with you.

Hope the clock only needs a battery and that the kettle is still good.

Curses of technology! But thanks SO much for sponsoring my bike ride Pat - very kind of you!

It's possible that the kettle just needs resetting, worth looking underneath to see if there's a little button. Regarding the clock, I'm afraid it's more likely to be more than a battery. When the battery runs out, it stops. But it's worth a try - please ask someone else to get it down though, and be in the room with them, just in case. Climbing above a hot Aga isn't something to be undertaken lightly ... you don't mind me mothering you a bit, do you? :D

Sometimes all you can do is throw up your hands and go "play"....Enjoy your Scrabble game....!
I'm hoping your Clock just needs a Battery....PLEASE, do not get up on a ladder, my dear....Have someone else do it...!

I so wish I had Skype and could talk to you about your Photo Problem and Blogger....I may not have the answer, but my suggestion would be worth a try...It's just too hard to write out in a coherent way....lol!

Rosneath: thank Heaven for Scrabble

Judy: I'll think about that tomorrow:)

Rog; safe journey.

Z: the thing is the clock hasn't stopped - its just gone bananas.
I'm happy to be mothered - its been a while. I will try to be sensible.

Naomi: and I'm being badgered about back up and downloads and these wretched ads have appeared.

Another charming British colloquialism I don't understand. Aga. I'd rather hear it from you than Google it.

Hornet... HORNET????
They make my knees go wobbly. I am pleased that there seem to be less around this year than last.

Speaking of clocks. My daughter is making a lot of decorating changes in my house right now and I am enjoying her visits and love what she is doing. However she replaced my kitchen clock. It was big with huge numbers. She replaced it with a fancy wide framed clock with small numbers. It is more attractive but I can't read the numbers from the living room couch. I wonder how long I have to leave it before I can put the old clock back up:)

Exile: it's a large cooking stove associated with aspiring middle class and often used as a short cut in literature to denote a type - Aga Sagas.
In my defence ours came with the house and is probably the one item I would hate to lose.
I believe they cost a bomb.

Ms: as long as the knees aren't knobbly. I'm sure they aren't.

Granny Annie: bless her but she sounds such a sweetie I think I would 'fess up.
It is maddening being without a kitchen clock.

Happy scrabbling, you're a better woman than I - I am very lazy when it comes to games, I am the person reading the trashy mag instead. Hope tomorrow is better. Funny how technology is supposed to make our lives easier...

ALW: Scrabble is the only game I play and in these last few months it has become therapeutic and contact with lots of different people in the mot undemanding way.
Lazy is a word I would never associate with you.

If you didn't have 'one of those days' day, you wouldn't know when you were having a fabulous day. Well that's how I like to look at it. Sliver clouds and all that, that's not to say there are not days when I stand in the middle of the room and scream. :D

I hope those days are few, and you have lots of happy ones.

Lom: me too.

GG: they are few thankfully and there are still happy ones.
