Tuesday's Outing'

Apparently when there is an extra Tuesday in the month we meet for a brunch.  The plan ws to go to the cafe at Blue Anchor.  I was to meet the other new girl at Blenheim Gardens who was very kindly giving me a lift.  With time to spare I had a quick run tound the gardens and loved the mid blue of this ceanothus.  I love blue flowers.

There is a band stand which  is hiding behind the trees.

Lots of room for children to run riot.

A cafe.

A burning bush

Monster plants.
Tulips standing to attention

The Driftwood cafe at Blue Anchor.  None of us felt very hungry; the men had Kitkats, the girls sticky cakes and I had a bread and butter pudding with ice cream which was very flavourful.  Eventually we repaired to a member's lovely house - perched on a hill, overlooking a farm that goes back to the Domes day book and with almost a 360 degree view.

A view from the terrace where the anchored ships can be seen turning with the tides.  A lovely spot to sit and ruminate

Another view from the garden.

This is a member's dog.  Now I appreciate Rog's skill  at photographing dogs.

That's an amazing shot of the dog! What are you talking about?! It's perfect! I've been to Blenheim Palace. Is that nearby? The thought that you and I trod the same ground is kind of a thrill.

That looks lovely! We're off to Kent for a holiday tomorrow, hopefully we'll get to see some beautiful sites there too.

Wonderful view Pat, why is it do you think that we all find a view over water to be so fascinating? I must admit that I hungered for an ocean view for years before I realised just how noisy the breaking waves can be. I wouldn't change it for the world though.

I'm surprised with gardens that beautiful they allow daisies in the grass! They need some weed and feed! Lovely views. It all looks beautiful.

Lovely. But isn't Blenheim Gardens in same place as Blenheim Palace, which is in land-locked Oxfordshire?

Pat said...

Scarlet: maybe they get doggie chocs.

Granny Annie : but UB thought it was amazing:)

UB: I was so dazzled by the bridge in the gardens of Blenheim Palace many years ago that I tried to enter the wrong car.
Blenheim Palace is in Oxfordshire -Blenheim Gardens are in Somerset.
so we have trod the same ground:)

Rog: that's kind:)

Judy: strictly speaking it is a shrub - in all shades of blue. Maybe you have it by another name?

John: I look forward to it:)

Marjoein: my Kent? Give it my love please.

Naomi: an action photo you could call it:)

Parsnip: sadly he had it built and then lost his wife so he hasn't yet had a drink on it.
I like your alibi for the dog:)

Chef: soon after we came here I couldn't wait to sleep out on the balcony and was amazed I could hear the rise and fall of the tide during the night although we are about three quarters of a mile away.
I couldn't persuade MTL to join me so he missed out.

Joey: maybe the difficult times make the council daisy tolerant.

Gadjo: no no! Minehead has her very own Blenheim Gardens. Would they were as beautiful as the Capability Brown ones are.

Ah, such beautiful places. I come here to look at your photos and dream!

That cafe looks beautiful, we used to have lots of buildings like those, but now they're going.

And now I want sweet, sticky cakes with sweet tea!

Is that near where Churchill lived? Or not? Looks likes its near the sea and I'm trying to place it. Bread and butter pudding has become all the rage here in California with all sorts of new variations

Pat said...

GG: they certainly do a thriving business. And sea bass too.

LOM: a fat moving fluff ball.

ALW: no. It is in Minehead - a small West country town by the sea where MTL and I chose to end our days.
This B&B pud had all the old flavours but the texture was like the French cakey bread. Can't remember the name.
Good old google - brioche.

What a really lovely view. Yes, I have a lunch too....in the middle of the afternoon. Nothing charming like your spots.

Save anything legal, all the tax documents for seven years on, and throw everything else out. I'm even boxing pots and pans. You would be so proud of me.

Mage: I try to follow your example. I feel slightly panicked that at some stage there won't be anything else to get rid of.
Not in the near future I think.
