All together now!

Some of you liked Katy Perry's Firework (see video below) but - along with myself - couldn't quite make out the lyrics.
Now you can - thanks to Nea who said this:

A group of ninth graders sang this at their finishing ceremony at my school, it's uplifting, but I hadn't seen the video before, together with the song it's brilliant:

"Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through..."

Putting the words to the music is a whole new ball game.

I think it's my favourite song and video by Katy Perry. Nice lyrics and a good message.

What a great message for kids to embrace. There's so much negativity out there and this is a perfect antidote to all that. Who hasn't felt like a loser at one point or another and needed to hear this kind of pep talk? Well done, Ms. Perry.

I never understand the words to most songs and it is always fun to sing along with what I think they are singing and then learn the actual lyrics to find out I was totally wrong. LOL

I rarely listen to the words, being more a musician than a singer, but these were quite nice. Think she wrote them herself?

LL Cool Joe: I love the idea of Nea's school girls singing it.

UB: I wonder if your daughters like it?

Naomi: it's really thanks to Nea - a good egg.

Granny Annie: yes an example of that is the German song known to
me as 'By me Miss Dushane.'

Pearl: I think she had a hand in them - along with a couple of other chaps.

I'll have to listen to this song.

I usually google: lyrics, name of singer, name of song [for example: lyrics, katie perry, fireworks]...and tah dah...a list of sites that write the lyrics of songs come up.

Greetings from the open sea dear lady, you were right, such calming qualities to be found beneath canvas yet atop the swirling green and blue waters of Blighty while sipping on a fine crisp white.

Four days fae Southampton, no a care in the world.

GG: I've been doing just that with the Water Boys.

W Files: I just knew you were around. Wave if you reach the Bristol Channel.

So good to read the lyrics to this song - I've only heard it occasionally and really like it - now the song means so much more to me. Super thanks for sharing this,

Michelle and Ol' Zebby Cat, sending care and puRRRRumbles

Mickle: and you are singing it aren't you? Zebby may join in too.
