Tom makes a splash - twice!

To reach the Hunter's Inn in Devon you have to delve into the bowels of the earth and I was quite glad not to be driving. It's a welcoming pub and worth the journey. We had lunch - large tasty prawns with a watsubi mayonnaise. A mistakenly brought me a large instead of a standard glass of wine but I bravely dealt with it. Fortified we set off to see the sea. Later - after our adventure - we went inside for hot drinks and sank into voluminous leather sofas where some of us would have happily stayed for a snooze.

Lunch on the terrace with a noisy peacock whose tail had seen better days.

I saw the Ocean this weekend. We sat on the beach and watched the Atlantic roll in. There's something primal and comforting about watching a vast body of water.

Your posts are distinctly British, which is, I feel, a very, very good thing.

UB: that's kind of you to say so. I'm sure it must get up some people's noses but I think I'm beyond redemption;)

Stunning photos, as always. How long was the stroll?

Cheers.

Randall: one way under 2 miles - over one. Just a pleasant stroll - for my benefit I suspect.

I saw the title and clicked straight here! Next time I'm up that way I'm definitely popping in The Hunter's Inn for tea or coffee - what a journey though! The roads around there are something else - and truly glorious views.

You really should write a pub grub guide to Devon :)

I hoped that I would see a post from you this morning and I was not disappointed.
Lovely pictures and I was going to ask the same thing about how long was the walk.
I love where I live now but I really miss my old home by the ocean.
Maybe it was growing up in desert but the ocean is so amazing to me and I miss the Pelicans that use to fly by my windows.
Strangely they have been replaced by Javelinas !

cheers, parsnip

Scarlet: take a tranquiliser and good luck:)

Kim: I'm happy to tell people about them but knowing the sweat of getting anything published I don't think I would have enough enthusiasm. I have it about my book which is what keeps me going.

Parsnip: now see in my ignorance I'm not sure whether a Javelina is a bird or an aeroplane.

I hope Tom didn't hurt himself?

I'm often the one that ends up wet, so I keep my phone knotted in a small plastic bag when out walking or fishing, just in case.

Nea: heartless creatures that we are we didn't think to ask. He is so laid back - just kicking himself for ruining his phone with all his stuff on. He has a really sweet nature and we aren't sure where he gets it from.
The phone is an excellent idea and I'm going to be more sensible about it.

Voluminous wine and sofas, how divine.

Lovely photos, and Tom looks adorable. I can see where he gets his sweet nature from.

I have never wanted to travel outside the United States but you and my other blog friends are enticing my interest in many wonderful places.

Pat said...

Eryl: who am I to shatter your illusions?

Granny Annie: I hope you make it one day:)

Pat said...

Parsnip: what a strange and beautiful place to live it must be.

Poor Tom. Good job it was a warm day.
I suppose his phone was ruined?

Sandy: it seems so. It's insured but he lost his data - not least the address of his new girl friend who he was about to visit. However communications were restored and by now he should have a new phone.
