A Golden girl

Aside

Jean- Luc (sidebar) reminded me how gripping the Olympic Games can be. We love watching rowing – MTL’s brother was an Oxford blue and his father was an athlete who trained with Eric Liddle, so running appeals to us. I was thrilled today when 25 year old Nicole Cooke from the Vale of Glamorgan won our first gold medal, cycling in treacherous rain, which living in Wales no doubt prepared her for. Her motto is something like – Pain is temporary – Glory is forever. There speaks a true Olympian

I have slept through most of the Olympics so far, but I did see that one! Good for her.

Pain is temporary for the young maybe, but I'm finding it's pretty much a feature these days! Perhaps if I had a bit of glory I wouldn't notice it.

Judy: it makes a change for us to get gold early on. Or even late on:)

Eryl: I don't like to think of you in pain. I don't like to think of anyone in pain- mind you I'm a one to talk. I hope yours is something trivial.

I am obsessed with the Olympics - ever since I can remember paying attention - LOVE THEM! I think the only sport I haven't watched so far is water polo.

Love 'em.

Kath : I'm so glad. I get caught up in the excitement and I really admire the dedication the athletes put into it, for years beforehand.

I'm all agog for the gymnastics, the swimming and the diving at the moment.

Yay, for Nicole - what a champ! May she never forget the feeling of winning gold.

Sam: I'm enjoying it too - when I get the chance.
