I know weymouth, a little bit. But never knew about the harbout. Now I am intrigued.

I seem to remember that there used to be nothing to stop a car from going right into the water - I suppose that's where there are bollards now. Even now, over by the George Inn, it looks like quite a low kerb.

grannyp: it is quite spread about and we covered a surprising amount of ground but I would have liked to re-visit the Portland bit and Chesil Beach. Certainly worth another visit - at a different hotel. The Rembrandt was mentioned favourable a couple of times.

z: we crossed the bridge to the town centre but didn't get as far down as The George. No shortage of good eating places but Bella Italia (Italian Reataurant)really floated my boat.

It looks like you had a gorgeous day for it too.
