STATE OF PLAY

Aside
I ought to make it clear that I am now with New Blogger. Not that you would notice – it’s not like having a boob job (no I haven’t) there is no visible difference. My fears seem to have been unfounded possibly because I haven’t attempted to change anything. However there is quite a lot of signing in with comments and it can be tiresome when they jib at the password (easy to get a letter wrong when you are tired.) It is said to be quicker and I think I agree but it is really too early to say. The photos below I did as an experiment, and the procedure is different to that which I am used to. The first time they published the frame sans picture, but I managed to delete and start again. My how you need to be dogged and determined in this game!

Hi Pat, here from Michele's. I haven't had too much trouble with new Blogger, although, there are still glitches... they're just different glitches. It looks fine, hopefully all will be fine.

Thanks Mike!

Even though I don't use Blogger, I've heard a few people complain about New Blogger. I hope all is still working well with it. The comment verification isn't so bad because it's the best way to keep out spam. I think most readers will understand that.

Everything does indeed look AOK, as you said. Now you have to give me a hint concerning the picture frame because I haven't got a clue!!

Hi Justin! I didn't realise you could choose not to use Blogger. Is Word press an alternative? A few people have mentioned that.

Hi M! When they first published the picture there was just an oblong with nothing in it. In other words the outline of the picture with a blank middle. Hope this is clear.

It was hard to use the Dashboaed on New Blogger as the writing was barely visible. It took ages to find that.

Michele sent me here.

jean-luc: I had been publishing photos straight from Picasa which I don't seem to be able to do now. I worked a way round it but it wil be a voyage of dicovery for some time yet!

Pat, try Adobe photoshop.

Pat said...

john I'll look it up. I've been happy with Picasa but now when I press 'blog this' it goes all round the houses. I'il try again next time I have a photo.

Glad you made the transistion. We'll just forget that old saw about "new tricks for old dogs" eh, dear?

Cheers.

Randall; you say the sweetest things babeee!

Glad you survived the transition :)

Pat said...

Thanks Kim: have you done it?

TLP said...

I've been afraid to try the transition. I'm pretty lazy.

Pat said...

TLP: no lazier than I am but I was being harrassed. Stick it out as long as you can.

I was forced to change today. I couldn't find any other way to sign in. I too had problems with the first picture I tried to add. But second time around it worked... almost. Now all I've got to do is fix the spacing... fingers crossed.

I went to New Blogger a week or two ago and I really like having labels. Other than that, it all seems the same.

Michele sent me.

Pat said...

Hi yellojkt! Yes I see I have them also. I wonder why?

Hello, saw you at Michele's.

Nerve-wracking to jump to the new blogger. Glad to see you landed smoothly. Interesting links you've got. I don't recognize many at all.

You made it to the other side!

My site is a wordpress one but why i chose it I'll never know. It's open source which means that it's being written all the time by clever tecchie people and so even the help boards are incomprehensible for a dough-brain like me. i can't even get pictures to lad in my posts. I did it once by accident but can't repeat it.

New Blogger sounds like the way to go. With luck the worst is behind you and there'll only be fun tinkering left to do.

But you made it! Congratumalations, Sweets!

I kind of like the labels and the nested way that the archived entries are displayed in the sidebar. I also like the way I can manage the site and update my layout without having to dig into code every time. It's a pretty slick interface that, so far, seems to be more stable than the old environment.

I'm sold. For now.

I do use Wordpress. There are several different options to choose from as far as blogging software goes. I've mainly used Wordpress, but I've tried out ApeJetBlog (it doesn't use databases), and I've tried just keeping a self-built blog. The latter didn't work out so well.

Hi Pearl and welcome! Hope you enjoy your visit and meet some of my friends on the side bar.

Sam: it's not all plain sailing. Just now I coudn't publish my new post from Word - wrong log-in so had to copy and paste to dashboard and you have to log in to spit! I also am hopeless with instructions and just have to keep plugging away until something works. Never a dull moment!

Carmi: I haven't dared try changing my layout but hey Rome wasn't built in a day!

Justin: you and Carmi obviously know what you are talking about. Sam and I have the odd blonde moment and sometimed mine lasts all day:)

I made the shift the other week when Blogger wouldn't let me delete a piece of spam comment without updating. I'd intended to move sooner or later but it was a pest that I couldn't do it in my own time. The most annoying thing is that it doesn't seem to keep me logged in for long. However, I like the labels system

Pat said...

Kim: I think it was inevitable and it is meant to be more secure. I'm getting to like the labels.
