Some years ago Mum made me custodian of 'the hat box' which held old family photographs - Maddie was settled in the States and Evan was very ill. I had been familiar with them for years but I haven't a clue who these two couples are. The seated ones were taken in a studio in Blackpool where most of us spent Wakes Week in the thirties ( you can just see the tower in the background although I'm sure it was a studio photograph.) Posted by Picasa

Wakes Week in Blackpool! Magic. Loved it. Playin' crazy golf with me nan. You ever stay at the Norbreck Castle? First time I came across an indoor pool. Luxury!
The Tower circus. Charlie Corroli king of clowns. Met footballer Terry Paine at the Norbreck. Got the photo somewhere. Happy happy days...

4d: indoor pool! Not really. We stayed with a Mrs Feldman - a boarding house- just off the front. We took our own food and they cooked and served it. So six months before we went the piano was covered with tins of fruit, carnation milk etc. This was early thirties so I expect it was cheaper that way. Did you ever go to Pablos ice cream factory? My idea of Heaven.

Pat, we have the same problem. When my grandmother died, Mom got shoeboxes of old photos. Fabulous stuff, but no names, dates or explanation. It caused me to go home and start labeling all my photos and slides.

Cheers.

Randall: most of my personal ones are in albums and I wish I could say they were all labelled.

kath: I agree. They Look as if they are on a stage set and shortly someone will enter with 'Anyone for tennis?'
