It's been a while...

since I was having so much fun I lost track of time. But none of us could believe it when the taxi driver turned up at the appointed hour to pick us up from the Alcombe Tandouri.
My younger son and my DIL were with us for the week-end and he had brought the video he made some months back of me talking about our family history. Meanwhile I had let him have relevant old photos with an index and he had found old family photos on his father's side and what with music and interspersing the photos with the relevant speech I was impressed with the finished film and it triggered off some animated discussion.
We often used to come here and then started to use the Indian restaurant nearer home. Since when it has changed hands and decor but the food and service are excellent.

Other guests.

Charming service

I was fascinated by the fly - catcher decor - as you can see.

This was the salmon I had with a heavenly sauce

Our guests had just returned from a holiday in Estonia in the capital Tallinn which looked charming with clean streets, toy town houses and many spires.

Our family used to give videos to our parents at Christmas. These videos were each child's family year in review and we got very elaborate with pictures and musical backgrounds. Thankfully each of us had very creative and talented children to put these projects together and while our parents are gone, the videos will live forever (we hope). I know what a treasure your son's video is for you.

You have made me hungry too early in the day. I'm not sure about the decor of the restaurant but I can certainly tell the food is excellent.

So, did you get your keyboard fixed?

Granny Annie: I showed my son a tape I made of my mother the day she was leaving - emigrating to America - aged 90. She died very soon after and he said I must get it on a DVD.
You are blessed also with talented children. A new keyboard is making life possible again:)

It is a very good idea to video the elders in the family - but so far - no one in my family has thought to do so. I must remedy that.

The Indian place looks good! I am going to an Indian restaurant on Friday.

That's a very high tech looking restaurant. Seems out of place with the sort of meal you ordered, which looks good, BTW.

Cheers.

That lighting would make your Korma look radioactive!

Judy: yes do! They have all your blogs but it's not the same as a face to face chat with one's mother.

Randall: I can't quite get the thinking behind it. One side of the room looks quite normal and the other looks like a great insect deterrent. Maybe it is.

Rog: happily it didn't affect my appetite.

The food looks lovely, but I hate Indian food!

oh, yummmmm...has me thinking i might want/need indian cuisine for my birthday bash this week - a gypsygirl can never have to much spice in her life - or so i hear!

and you're invited to the bdbash - it'll be here, round the campfire - not to worry with bringing anything but yourself and mister self - plenty of food and drink and our friend map the musicman has planned some really fantastic musical magic for us! just come as you are!

Looks very nice hen, did you leave a tip or just thank the waiters?

That looks a glorious meal, Pat. We both enjoy the occasional Indian meal.

Pat said...

John.G: it's not my favourite but I enjoy it once in a while.

Gypsywoman: thank you - I shall certainly be there but when?

Jimmy: always both. I leave MTL to do the tipping - men's work and I know he's generous.
Your mesl in Newcastle sounds horrendous - they didn't deserve a tip.

They didn't get one Pat. They got the special look I reserve for people who displease me. Our table of sixteen rose as one and left midway through the main course. We paid only for our drinks, and that was by way of a few twenties left scattered on the table top. We left politely enough, but unchallenged...

sorry to be so forgetful, pat - thursday anytime after sunset - turning 37 can be very taxing on one's memory - again -

When will we find this video on YouTube? :)

Pat said...

Mike and Ann: between us folk might think that we have nothing but fun:)

Jimmy: are you too far from Hartlepool to have a meal there?
I haven't eaten at his for decades but Krimo's http://krimosrestaurant.blogspot.com/
a fellow blogger has a great reputation. Tell him I sent you.

Gypsywoman: Thursday it is. But I have nothing to wear.

Kim: realistically I think it would only be of interest to family members. I have the girls coming round next week- with not the longest attention span- I'll see if they stay awake the whole 20 minutes.

Oh My...the Food looks scrumptious! And so BEAUTIFULLY presented! It is a lovely looking place, even with the 'fly-catcher' look...lol!
I would LOVE to see that DVD your son made.....It sounds quite wonderful, Pat.

BTW: The Tile Floors will be up by the time you are up and about with Coffee...(Don't Go Near The Keyboard...lol..)

Like chocolate, curry is supposed to be addictive, and you're making my mouth water again... fortunately we once again have an Indian restaurant in town, and Swedish chocolate on tap, well almost.

Pat said...

Nea: we aim to please. Is Toblerone Swedish?

Ms Scarlet said...

I saw a programme on BBC2 last night about colour. The blue lighting is supposed to make the dining experience feel warm and inviting... but I reckon a curry does that anyway!
Sx

Pat said...

Scarlet: really? Who'd have thunk?

Jimmy said...

Thanks Pat, a visit to the monkey hangers may well be on the cards.

The curry and its accessories looks excellent although I want to know where you have hidden the half litre Cobra bottles?

Pat said...

Jimmy: I wonder why Hartlepudlians are called that.
If you do go please give my best to Krimo.

Rashbre: MTl says it was served in a glass. There's posh!

Nea said...

I think Toblerone is Swiss, Pat. Here in Sweden we have Marabou's Swiss Nut and Cloetta's Plopp to keep us happy :)

The 'charming service' looks shy :-)

Estonia. Wow. There are some breath-taking countries in that part of the world.

Pat said...

GG: I think they were quite young and didn't put a foot wrong all night.
In Estonia, where they were looked inviting - their only regret - that they mainly met other tourists rather than the local people.

Pat said...

Nea: smashing links. Make mine a Marabou:)
