The Seige continues

But our new postie gets through on foot. I cancelled hair appointment and Christmas dinner at the Quay Inn but -salvation - a phone call from a driver who has a hamper to deliver from our Australian family. He can't get up the hill so carries the hamper to our door. It won't be just bread and dripping on Christmas Day. Hurrah!

Much as I love bread a dripping I'm very glad to hear this. And there's something about a hamper that's such fun, I hope you're going to show us what's in it, X

It's a very beautiful siege, as far as sieges go. Much nicer than when bombs were raining down on London in WWII.

Good ol' Postie! And Mr. Delivery Man!

I was a courier for too many years and don't miss having to travel the country from corner to corner (did you know that Ireland is rectangular?) in these conditions!

Enjoy the hamper, it looks very posh! :¬)

Yayyyy, fooooood. And love, because that is pure love, to send that hamper, and for the delivery man to bring it.

Play some nice music, hold each other and slow dance. Sorry, I'm a hopeless romantic, I know :-D

Mapstew, I thought Ireland was bumpy with all those mountains :-)

Eryl: I expect so;)

UB: You can say that again. I was always sad I was too young for the GIs.

Mapstew: Posh or not it will save our bacon;)

Judy: I offered him a hot drink but he was too busy so MTL gave him a little something.

Luna: No-one more surprised that us at this weather. I'm sure I heard a drip so am hoping its thawing.

GG: As usual I shall follow your instructions to the letter:)

Parsnip: OK I can take a hint:)

Totally love that snow. Unfortunately we live in a part of Oregon that do not get too much of that glorious white stuff, so I have to enjoy what others have.
What is a hamper? Here, a hamper is for dirty clothes.

Pat said...

Z: Nicely put:)

Sunshine: See the second photo. It's a woven basket used for food and wine and for picnics.
If used for dirty clothes it would be called a linen basket.

I hope you are able to get a "delivery" to your home, my dear Pat...At least, the every day staples that one always needs.....
It does look quite beautiful, though I am glad I am not actually in it! (lol). We have been having a lot of Rain here...but I don't mind...though I am ready for it to stop pretty soon.

No photos or inventory of the goodies? Or are you just going to keep all for yourselves? Very selfish during the holidays, you know.

:)

Cheers.

I say baked chicken and beef roast and hard boiled eggs and I'm making myself hungry now even though I don't eat meat.

Pat, you know what a nosy lot we are..........

There are few things in life more beautiful than a Fortnum's Hamper.

Pat said...

LOM: thank you and the same to you:)

Baglady: and thank goodness for it. I've just learned that we are not in Tesco's delivery range and the Co-op have stopped delivery for the present. Taxi!
