Hunkering down.

We didn't do it on Saturday, we postponed it on Sunday and today - Monday, with the South West a white-out, shopping is not on. Our help S, has phoned to say she can't get down her hill let alone tackle ours. Milk, fresh fruit and vegetables are low but we just think back to the forties and we're laughing. # 1 son has phoned exhorting me to stay indoors and shop on line. I might give it a go.

View from the sun room - ice-box would be more apt.

I was tempted by Sarah Raven's catalogue to oder some beautiful crysanths. I hadn't realised they were indoor ones and now have six very large containers in the sun room. However this first specimen reminds me what attracted me in th first place

Pat, that is a gorgeous chrysanth (specially at this time of year !!). Whilst the present weather continues, I'd be inclined to stay by the fire (or a radiator) as far as is possible. I've made sure I've got lots of interesting jobs to do in my workshop (which is located off a warm, dry, cellar) during the worst of it (makes me sound like Mr. Badger). We wish you both a good Christmas.
Warm regards, Mike and Ann.

Your chrysanthemum is spectacular, the sun room will look amazing when they all come out. Picture ≠3 seems to show some rather unusual wildlife, it's like Pan's Labyrinth out there!

I got Bob what looked like a plain grey jumper online, when it arrived it had bright purple crocheted elbow patches!!! So I'll be dashing down to the shops today. Luckily we haven't been hit so bad by the snow and the roads are all clear now. But that will teach me to thoroughly check the spec from now on.

Queenie: Oh alright then.

Scarlet; I checked ours and there was about 8".

Sharon: as long as all the goodies don't run out:)

Mike and Ann: Excellent advice. It's like going back in time and rolling rugs to put behind doors.

Savannah: thank you. Actually I'm longing to go out an build a snowman but I promised I wouldn't.xoxox

Eryl: I can't see the picture at the moment but I stick things on the glass to stop birds from crashing into it. It would be lovely if they all come to fruition won't it?
Does Bob not like purple. It's quite royal:)

I understand snow is rare in your part of the UK. Better not drive until it melts, dear.

Cheers.

We've been lucky! Only 1/4" of snow, -10C though.

Randall: no fear of that - the minute it's possible it's a taxi to the shops.

John G: Long may it continue - your luck I mean. We are MAROOOOOONED!catedlea

Beautiful photos, Pat

Kevin: I really should learn centigrade - I'm still Fffing but I suspect it's cold up there. Mtl's porridge is looking increasingly attractive.

Leigh: I think taking them in almost dark helped.

Macy: I've registered but MTL says they won't get up the lane at present. I'll have to do something soon.

I remember how it was when we had the big flood and were marooned for two weeks. I hope get lots of food, warmth, music, films, love...then life feels good no matter what.

That flower shows celebration, joy, doesn't it?

Pat said...

GG: Please don't let us get a flood when it thaws.
Yes I love this flower and must go and water them all.
