A Great Night Out

Reeves Restaurant in Dunster was recommended to us by a number of people and we chose it for the anniversary of our reunion 31 years ago. Don't go out unless you have to was ringing in our ears but with advice from people on the spot we took a calculated risk which gave an extra frisson of excitement to the outing. We were told the Reeves have travelled extensively and the restaurant is full of memetoes from their wanderings. The effect is like an Aladdin's cave - both exotic and pleasing. It certainly lived up to its reputation of fine dining
and we both had an excellent night's sleep afterwards always a telling indication IMO.

It looks like rather an interesting venue with plenty of treasures to examine. The dinner looks good too.

We try to work out the menu keyword for each year. We're well past 'jus' now so I think 'reduction' might be the current one.

Rashbre: that's an interesting game - I think you're right. They are pretty patterns but sparse in content by old standards. You can understand the old school's disdain.

They certainly are VIBRANT rooms, aren't they! Quite lovely.

Hi Pearl: so glad you like it too:)

They've pinched the colour scheme and decor from my spare bedroom!

So is YTL now used to you pulling out your camera just before each course?

Pat said...

Ooooh Kevin - do you take PGs?

Kim: I'm quick and discreet but if I didn't have MTL's complete complacence, acquiescence - whatever- it would be impossible. And then Randall and Charlie would be disappointed.

It looks very nice. So what did you have to eat?

St Jude: for a moment I thought I'd deleted part of it but no - scroll down and you'll see what we ate. I've almost forgotten:)

I'm afraid I must agree with Four Dinners on the decor - I have a phobia of purple in restaurants - but it's the cooking that matters. And the company, bien sur. Happy New Year to you both and wishing you many more dinners out.

Daphne: I've yet to hear what my sons think of it. I suspect we'll be going to the excellent pub in Crocombe. Thank you for the goo;d wishes and the same to you. Arthur was on The One show tonight and I thought of you.
