Stir Crazy

We gotta get out of this place!

If it's the last thing we ever do ...

We gotta get out of this place,

'cause girl, there's a better life ... for me and you

Mann and Weil

Aside

We are going stir crazy-and putting up the kitchen curtains yesterday was the last straw so we’re breaking out and are off to the flicks – 60 mile round trip or no! There are three which sound especially interesting.

#1 No Country for Old Men

#2 The Kite Runner

#3 Sweeney Todd.

We once took Sweeney Todd – the play – to France and I played Tobias the young apprentice with a spiky brown wig but the film is a musical.

Which would you choose? I think – after some googling – I know which I’ll plump for.

That's right, you treat yourself. All work and no play...etc...

I think I would plump for 'No Country for Old men' first, followed by Sweeney Todd. Not necessarily on the smae night though! LOL!

Bob-kat: if it were just me I'd definitely see two at once. I did it when my eldest was home from Uni; we went in to London and saw David Bowie (and his willy) in 'The Man who fell to Earth' and then the unforgettable 'One flew over the Cuckoo's nest' But MTL wouldn't want to.

Helen: having seen what a fantastic cast it is - I'm tempted. Tell you tomorrow:)

Which did you choose? I saw Sweeney Todd in New York with Patti Lupone as the meat pie seller. I am looking forward to the movie.

Hi Star! It's going to be a last minute choice. tell you tomorrow:)

You've probably left already, but I'd choose in the order you've listed them. Both "No Country" and "Kite Runner" were/are fabulous novels.

Cheers.

Randall: we chose ! No Country' and the first thing I said to MTL was 'I've got to read the book.'

I want to see all of them but No Country would be my first choice. At the moment we are spoilt for choice with some great movies out that I'm dying to see. It's not always that way.

Sweeney Todd, because it's got Captain Jack in it, innit?

David Bowies' willy?? Mum2!!

Sam: it's great. I want to see the Julie Christie one but it isn't here yet.

Mr Farty: I didn't see the pirate films but Sweeney looks well worth seeing. Difficult choice

Johng: 'fraid so. See one you've seen 'en all:)

I read the Kite Runner and loved it - so I'd vote for that.

Judy: by all accounts it is an excellent film but the theme of atonement was similar to the last film I saw- 'Atonement'. I would like to see it later on.

I played Tobias too, in the school play in 4th form :)

Pat said...

Kim: snap! Bet you didn't have to wear a pesky wig. I had blonde, shoulder length hair in those days and the naughty French mayor who we were twinned with said my Tobias made him want to turn homosexual:)

Kim Ayres said...

My hair was pretty long back then, so no wig was needed. If you join Facebook, I've got a photo on there of when I was 16

Pat said...

Kim: bet you weren't blonde. I'm too stretched to join anything can't you put it on your blog?

Kim Ayres said...

You're right, I wasn't blonde.

I daresay the photo will find its way onto the blog one day, probably to show how much my son looks like me and to prove I have a chin

Pat said...

Kim: I'll keep my eyes peeled:)
