Great film - lovely song.

Is it Irish or Scottish?  No matter.
I was fifteen when I saw the film and fell in love with Scotland, then I  met MTL.
We didn't have 'our song' but this was pretty special.

Such a BEAUTIFUL song and sung so
very touchingly.....It is quite amazing that you met your dear MTL when you were only 15.....! And then to re-meet again. Sometimes things really ARE meant to be, my dear Pat...The Miracles in life...Thinking of you each day and sending you loving hugs.....

What Naomi said (because I could not say it better.)

Naomi: you always say something comforting so beautifully - and from the heart.

Judy: it's a gift she has.

I can not say anything more lovely than what Naomi said. She wrote what I feel.
I am keeping you in my heart.
Hugs from me and The Square Ones.

cheers, parsnip

Parsnip: thank you to the three of you.
I'm slowly reducing the jobs I must do and hope to be visiting again soon.

Just lovely, you know I like a good song. Nice and simple, and a beautiful voice. I have to ask Ma, I'm sure she used to sing this. :¬)

Map: I'll bet she saw the film. It was a cracker.

Thanks for sharing this Pat! I just found the movie on Youtube and I'm going to watch it. Here's the link to the first part, if you'd like to watch again --

You can find the subsequent parts on the right.

Thanks Pat & Cloudcutter, just what I needed, a good film to sit back & watch. I've got a nasty cough/cold that I need to fight off before next Friday.

Nea: get well soon. Enjoy the film - dated but lovely.
What is happening on Friday. You know how nosy I am.

IKWIG was as you said a "cracker",. The scenery was stunning even in black & white. Now I have learnt about the Corryvreckan and Petula Clark thanks to you & Cloudcutter, I'm nosy too :)

On Friday the girls & I are taking the early morning train south. The clan is gathering the following day for Mike & Ann's 50th.

Pat said...

Nea: yes you must be well for that. What a lovely occasion - all my best wishes to Mike and Ann.
I don't remember Petula Clark in the film - she must have been a child.

Nea said...

P.C. played the child of a neighboring family, a very small part, but hers was the only name I recognized as the titles rolled.

Nea: I met Wendy Hiller on a set and was able to tell her how I loved the film. She was charming and said how people always inserted an i in her surname -Hillier - which I did myself.
Some years back MTL and I found the phone box used in the film.

Nea said...

I'm so glad the phone box is still there. I'm going to use some of what I have learnt from the film tomorrow in a lesson, the legend of the viking who used 3 ropes to anchor in the Corryvreckan, we've been working with Scotland so it will fit in well. Thank you!

Nea: I'm trusting you are well again.
Delighted to be of some use.
I'm just reading 'Life of PI'.
Any book recommendations?

Nea said...

Much better, thank you.

Sadly, I haven't had much time for reading during the last few months. We did listen to an audio book during our last break, the Christmas Train by David Baldacci, it was easy listening & kept us amused whilst doing our chores.

I'll put the life of Pi on my reading list, but what about the other PI's book?

Nea: I'll see if it is on kindle.
The other book isn't commercial enough for Penguin. Everybody wants another money spinner like 'Call the Midwife'
Daniel is still trying to help me and I have a couple of fall back plans. I really need a good editor to help shape it.
