A Beautiful Moment

All of the music was absolutely superb, but yes, this was a lovely selection indeed. I also so enjoyed hearing my absolute favourite hymn, Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer, done with such style. Richard was a chorister during his childhood in England, and I sang in my church choir from age nine through my teens, so such things always go down tremendously well in our household!

That was one beautiful wedding, from start to finish.

Milady: it must have been a special pleasure for you both. I think Prince Charles - who is passionate about music chose it - all of it.
I loved singing with my school choir and when we sang 'The Snow' even Alphonse the caretaker stood leaning on his broom - entranced.

What lovely music! And those who sang it will surely remember that day.

Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful Music!

But why did two of the men singers have on white bow-ties ? I hope it means something because compared to the other choir members they look silly.

On my first trip to London Westminster Abbey was top on my list of places to visit. I wanted to see the vaulting that I had studied about in school.

Lovely post.

cheers, parsnip

Beautiful music, great voices and such handsome children. That will, no doubt, be a great memory for all of them for years to come.

One of the thrilling things to me about this Wedding, was the Gloriously Beautiful Music....! "Guide Me, Oh Thou Great Reedeemer"...PERFECT! And those sweet innocent little faces and those lovely voices of those cherubs and, in fsct, of the entire choir....The choices of music and especially the song that had been commisioned for the Wedding, ALL, beautiful in every way.....! Lovely to hear this again, Pat....

A little bit of "love" over at my place, if you get a chance, my dear.

Debra: I think many people - including me - will remember the day. Not least because I had family here to watch with us.

Parsnip: goodness knows - and some of the choir boys were more ornately dressed. It always amuses me to see the little angelic faces and imagine what they are like when let off the leash!

Judy: the voices were so perfectly melded so there were swellings of sound.

Naomi: we always sang 'Guide me, Oh Thou Great Jehovah.' Same meaning I suppose. I'll pop over right now;)

I'm sure it was lovely, but alas, I didn't pay much attention to it, figuring it was the UK's party and by definition, I wasn't really invited.

Cheers.

I watched the Queen on film. I watched Charles and Diana's on TV, and I watched this wedding in reruns. I felt too old to get up to watch the wedding in real time.

RYN: Flower pictures. I have a macro setting and use that to get as close as I can comfortably. Then when I get home and get the images downloaded, I play with them in Photoshop Elements. I have 6....and it's old. I crop the image tightly, alter the background to simplify the image, and I bring it into tighter focus. Then I lighten the highlights and deepen the hearts of the shadows. It only takes minutes to do this, and the results are pretty good.

I've been so enjoying your images lately. Spring has sprung at last. For us, perhaps this year we will have summer too.

Parsnip, the white bow ties were a symbol of seniority of some kind within the choir. They could be the lead tenor, bass, etc., or perhaps they are assistants to the choir leader. Every choir has its own way of denoting seniority among the adults and children. When my husband was head chorister back in the day, he wore a red medallion, a tradition that still exists at that English church. I've seen others wearing gold or silver medallions, a different kind of collar, etc.

Oh, and I forgot to add the boys in the lovely gold and red costumes are actually from a different choir - Her Majesty's Chapel Royal.

And there's my know it all moment finished for today. ;-)

Randall: you could have come as my guest but - be honest - you would have been bored to the back teeth:)

Maggie: the timing was easy for us and I wouldn't have missed it.
You make the photography sound easy - peasy but I suspect there is a great deal of skill involved and I love the results.

Milady: thank you for that. I do like it when I have a few experts around:)

One of them, one little boy, did a solo part and he was adorable.

I watched the wedding 3 times [on and off the other 2 times, but still...]hehe...

Wow. Just wow. This music is wonderful.

I loved everything about the wedding. (Well, maybe not some of the more Outrageous Spectator Hats.)

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are a beautiful couple.

I guess you call those hats "Fascinators." Sorry.

Pat said...

TLP: yes I think most of us are quite proud of the whole wedding and the couple.
I thought the hat worn by Princess Michael of Kent was ridiculous as it covered all but her jaw line. Never the best feature of the older woman.
And the hats worn by Beatrice and Eugenie were so silly they detracted from what could have been elegant outfits.
