A gift

Not many people have it – my DIL certainly has; the ability to choose exactly the right present for the right person at the right time.  It is no secret that I am an Helenophile but she can’t possibly have known that I was having an intense orange phase.

I treasure the many gifts she has given me over the years but this one – a most unexpected surprise during their visit here - rivals the old favourites.

The scarf is designed by Julia Abadie and is based on Cretan ceramic art from the Minoan period.  It marries fine lines with solid colours.

The design seduces with its expressive simplicity and its consummate decorative art.  Beauty transcends time, always.

What?! No pic of you modeling it?! Have you forgotten your ways?

My brother-in-law has the ability to zero in on the exact perfect gift that's right for the occasion. It's uncanny! He has a killer sense of direction, as well.

Ahhhhhhhh, she knows you too well...
And yes, a photo of you wearing the scarf. We are your demanding readers.

cheers, parsnip

UB: it's nice to have someone like that in the family.
I'm feeling quite frazzled just now and not like facing a camera.

Parsnip: it was difficult enough taking the scarf alone. I can't do self portraits and MTL often cuts the heads off. Our guests have gone to Bath for a couple of days

Scarves were my passion when I worked outside the home. I have many and truly envy your dil's gift to you. She is a bright girl. Now with that scarf, you are a bright girl. LOL

Granny Annie: thank you - that's encouraging.
I'll bet - like the Queen - you have the gift of being able to wear them with aplomb.
