A Woman's Work...

This is an entrance that no-one ever uses and that's what it looks like just now so Monday morning was meant to be my clearing all the debris so it could be collected with the garden rubbish tomorrow. However I had an early appoinment with the chiropodist and by the time I walked back up the lane my enthusiasm had waned. In any case Alice my grand-daughter is travelling down from Uni to spend a few days with us so I absolutely must give the family room carpet a going over whilst it's freshly vacuumed.

Done that!
.
Maybe I can do the entrance after lunch - after a nap. Just time for a quick scrabble. One of the games I'm presently playing, my opponent's first move gained 150 points - or was it 180? She's slipping now down to the fifties. As Kim said - its a numbers game - not a word game.

I like the entrance the way it is. It's got an air of mystery to it.

Cheers.

Yes, I agree... I love the semi-wildness of it. I'd just leave it, if it were up to me! Plus that would mean less work for you. :-)

The setting looks like it belongs in a Beatrix Potter story.

Yes, yes, I'd just leaf it alone, I was thinking the same thing as Annie, Ponita and Sherman when I first saw it.

I have a teen friend who loves our veranda with the few scattered leaves from small plants.

I like the leaves at our gate but my mother's always sweeping them away.

I've finished all my chores. I decided to work with a list that would get done by 9 a.m.

Oh Gosh, I guess I am in the minority again as usual.
I think a little clean up, clipping and pruning back would be nice especially if you walk by and see it often. Just enough to keep it from getting too overgrown but wild enough to be charming.
Lions and tiger can still live there.

cheers, parsnip

Rustic and perfect, love it the way it is doll.

Wait till someone's hammered you at scrabble - then go and take your frustration out on the spare greenery.
That's what I'd do.

But then again...

All: I'm really cross! I have just finished individual comments to you all and Blogger had eaten them.
I have taken all you have said on board and went with Parsnip because within a week it will look just the same and MTL always reckons if the house and grounds look neglected it's an open invitation to thieves and robbers.
And you can take the girl out of Lancashire... I used to earn my pocket money by sweeping and SCRUBBING my mother's steps. She'll be smiling down on me.

Randall; see what you started!

John.G: it's done now. Cheeky!

Naomi: I do that all the time Naomi. If I'm lucky I spot most of my errors before I post - but not always.
I'll pop right over.

As far as thieves and knaves go, a good twelve gauge loaded with rock salt will do the trick, I think. There's nothing like an arse full of those little stingy pellets to keep the riff-raff off the lawn.

But of course, I'm an American from the Ozarks.

Still . . .

Cheers.

Nothing wrong with a bushy entrance.

I used to feel like your graden photos reminded me of Enid Blyton stories but I just realised where the nostlagia comes from. When I was a little girl we lived in a tiny community with gardens and trees and pathways all around. I spent much of my preteen years climbing trees and exploring apthway through shrubs and bushes. At the same time, Enid Blyton was my favourite author. So it's really that your garden reminds me of my first home!
Thanks!
It's really beautiful...paths that need clearing and all. :)
