My goodness, what an attractive family!

Queenie: what is great - both Tom and Chris are academically extremely bright and Chris is also action girl personified.
End of crowing.

Hello:
It is so many years since we had a proper cream tea of the kind which you describe here. It sounds so very delicious when written about that we can only imaginewhat it must have tasted like. It all seems to have been a very jolly occasion.

We think that afternoon tea should be revived - at least at weekends for those [happily not us] who are at work in the week.

I have avoided cream teas for the fear of ending up like the Michelin Lady - perhaps it's a good idea that I don't see my parents that often;) Now that I live here, it's very hard to avoid pies and jam doughnuts make me go weak at the knees;)

You have a very handsome family indeed - what a shame that we didn't see the tea. That may well be a good reason to have another...

After a cream tea like that I was half expecting you to have doubled in size!

Sounds wonderful though :)

Tom is very handsome!

I know grandmas love hearing how handsome / beautiful their grandchildren are :-) but I'm telling the truth, not just flattering, dear grandma Pat.

CC: thank you;) I'm very lucky with both my family and garden.

H: I think the fact that we are mostly trying to lose weight made afternoon tea a bit of a no-no.
But it is a lovely occasional treat and we didn't eat in the evening.

Zoe: how lovely to hear from you. Never mind the doughnuts - what about those twice fried chips dunked in mayonnaise?
I'm still eating up the chocolate cake slavered with the cream. Do hope I don't become addicted.

Kim: I've GOT to stay below 9 stone for my holiday. Wish me luck;)

GG: I know all Grandmas would say so but he is such a sweetie and makes me laugh.

This early summery weather has been good for cream teas. We also had one (with an extra big pot of tea) during the "royal weekend" whilst on our travels.

Clotted cream and scones (jam first or jam second??)

Pat said...

Rashbre: interesting question. I confess I usually demolish it without thinking. Now I'm thinking cream first because it takes the place of butter. Do you know there are some people who use butter, cream and jam! On one scone!

You've done it now Pat - that's me headed down to the kitchen to start baking scones...
I'll blame you for Any Weight Gained...

Pat said...

Macy: oh 'eck!
Do what I do and go up and down stairs as often as possible. It helps if your computer is upstairs - like mine is.
The blissful taste is worth it;)

Lovely young chap. But I still crave after pics of scones!

Madame D: I've let you down but maybe a couple of food pics tomorrow.

Naomi: the comment are really mixed up. I'm sure I read this one earlier but can't find it:)
