I remember those posters very well - possibly not that one, but the genre. A lost world they bring back.

Marvelous posters, and an even better than marvelous story. I can see you and your friends having a lovely time ashore then the long tow out to sea and the very sick return. Wonderful writing.

Dave King: those awful knitted bathing costumes that drooped when wet:)

Maggie: we don't seem to have weekends like that anymore.

Have a terrific break, Pat.

I was having a rather interesting conversation with my mum this morning, about the changing times...everything seemed so innocent back then [despite WW 2].

Someone should revive this style of posters.

Blazing: thank you. I'll try not to take it too literally.

GG: as a little girl those grown ups seemed so glamorous

You use to be able to pick up those vintage travel posters for fairly cheap but over the past decade or so, they have become expensive collectibles. I occasionally attend poster auctions just to gawk. The colors on the original lithographs (as opposed to the reprints) are stunning.

UB: I find myself transported to a world of Bertie Wooster and then the war came and it never was that pre-war era again.

Bertie Wooster is one of my all-time favorite literary characters. It's the London I love best. The London of wealth an privilege. The London of Mayfair. The dialog is thick and juicy.

UB: excellent taste IMO.
